Bruce Stuart has been selected already (TDMM took him at 425 in the main draft). Please select again.

You are allowed to select whenever you want. He is skipped due to making an invalid pick.

Montreal Orfuns apologize for the error.

You are building a pretty solid 3rd line.

I still undecided so it wasnt that. Just wondered because it would be quite infuriating to come 24 hours later and realize you made an invalid pick.

He's a MANIAC!

Thomas Vanek, LW

Top 20 finishes (vs the modern talent pool):
Goals: 5, 5, 13, 14
Points: 15,19

447 points (472 adjusted) in 547 career games.

Dreakmur says he is good in front of the net on the PP, which is always a tough role to fill

I'm kinda shocked by his Selke record too. He has three top 20s I believe.

EDIT: Yep, totally just made that up. He only has one.

Lol I Command+F'd the All-Star Voting thread, and forgot that there are two separate 2006-07 results on that page.

Heh. Vanek isn't terrible away from the puck, but we definitely drafted him for his offense.

His "14th place" finish in Selke voting in 2006-07 was pretty much the result of a few lazy writers throwing their votes to the guy who led the league in plus/minus.

On the other hand, I don't think he's ever really played with a true #1 center (pretty sure Briere, Drury, and Vanek all played on different lines when they were all in Buffalo), so his offensive totals probably underrate his talent.

Vanek never played with Vanek? NO WAY!

Isn't Dave Christian just a RW? I will investigate the scouting reports and TOI sheet.

2nd line center in Washington behind Carpenter, ahead of Jarvis.

Re 3rd line. Time will tell.

Vecens, it's not a big deal, but where did you see that Weldy Young is a right handed shot?

An enforcer with 390 points in 1103 games will take some selling. 2792 PIMs will create a lot of power plays for the other team. GMs will use this against you. Speaking as a Hawks fan, good luck.

I dare say he won't be the only "psychopath" (and I say that affectionately, referring to his nickname) drafted in an effort to add "toughness" to a team. His warts are obvious, the benefits of having a player with his skillset is too, I think.

To be honest, I'm more concerned that GMs will use the fact that I'm not a "draft expert" against me. Not that it matters, this is all for fun.

The TOI file has Dave Christian as a RW all seasons except 81, 82, 83, 89, and 93, where he is listed as C.

the 1982 Complete Handbook Of Pro Hockey confirms he is a C. Ditto 1983. 1984 and 1985 are inconclusive. 1986 says he's a center. 1987 and 1988 both say RW.

In the Hockey Scouting report, it is confirmed he was moved from center to RW prior to the 1986-86 season.

He should be listed as RW/C.

Thus ends the ongoing TheDevilMadeMe/Dreakmur argument as to whether we should take him with our next pick. There is a lot to like with Janney (you can easily find it in the stats sheets for both regular season and playoffs), but a lot not to like
