It would be a 35+ contract too.
I'm guessing the offer is from Sather.

That offer is pure lunacy. 7.5 cap hit for a 50 point player in the twilight of his career? Leadership skills are valuable, but not THAT valuable.

Blackhawks claim that they are in the red financially, would seem odd that they would take on that much risk.

This offer is so anti-Burke. I'm surprised his name is mentioned here. I'd be absolutely surprised if it came from Burke. If he's willing to shell out that kind of dough, I'm sure as hell it won't be for a couple of years of Doan. 4 years at his age is pretty much one of those retirement deals, and at 7.5 to boot. I don't personally think so.

I wonder if the GM who offered that was actually stupid or if multiple teams had legitimate offers ($4-5m) that continuously drove up the price? I wouldn't be opposed if we offered him 3 years @ $5M (at the MOST) but anything higher for an declining forward is absolutely retarded.

Term smells like a Burke deal.
Doan could command a 6-8 year retirement deal from some sucker GM.

I think the money is far too high, but at the same time, I wouldn't be upset about it knowing that Connolly, Lombardi and Komisarek all come off the books next season.

They want another cup and the time is now...I do agree that it is a risk. They do have many trade-able assets to get relief if required and soon they will be forced to make decisions. They do not have to pay or Huet 5.6 to not play this year.

The report the score are citing is from a reporter from a Phoenix radio station.

One example of a player signing a 6,7,8 year contract while being over the age of 35 ?
I can think of one Pronger .. and we all know the intent was for that not to be a +35 contract lol.
There may be a 6 year or two but IDT they are really big 5m+ contracts.

YEA, we wouldn't want a pure winner on this team. Doan is a horse and we'd be lucky to have him. Bit pricey but Id take that deal.
