They won't get any of the top prospects, but still, this is a good thing.

I do feel like that's where Milan and Patterson start their pro careers. Plus gives the Avs brass easier chance to evaluate you them. Gives me a chance to watch when they play Wichita or Missouri.

Payroll is about the same than what Avs have.

Anyway, I really like this. I'm not sure what's the big thing NHL team benefits from CHL, but I can't see this a bad thing anyway.

You're right, they won't get any of the top prospects, but they will get 2 goaltenders most likely, and we're all curious to see at least how Pickard/Aittokallio/Patterson all look, at least I am, I don't really know much about Millan, but the consensus is that he's behind the other 3.

but at least for me, this is great news, because they play in the CHL and Wichita, KS has it's own CHL team, the Wichita Thunder. So I'll be going to at least a couple of games this upcoming season, and I could take a look at some of our propsects that are at the CHL level.

In the past the Avs have had CHL affiliations, but they tended to be shared affiliations, so they couldn't really be as "hands on" as they maybe wanted to. I have a feeling that with Derek Armstrong working cloesly with Craig Billington, that the Avs will be much more hands on with them.

Just another feeder team for the parent club for it's prospects.

After all of the teams' AHL affiliations, it's kind of upto them to find other affiliations if they'd like, and if the AHL is looked at as the equivalent of "AAA" for Baseball, leagues like the ECHL and CHL could be looked at as "A" or "AA" (maybe Tweener "AA" leagues). It's still Pro Hockey, and the level of competition seems to be getting a bit higher in those lower leagues.

I know that Jake Newton, the guy we acquired in the Kyle Cumiskey trade, played some games for the Avs' CHL Affiliate last year, the Allen Americans. But because the Allen Americans also had an affiliate contract with the Dallas Stars, it was another instance where the Stars and Avs were both sending players there, so the Avs weren't as "hands on" with Newton's development since the Americans were affiliated with Dallas first, so Dallas's own club philosophy was prevalent.

We'll likely only send two, maybe three players there, max. More of a PR move for both clubs.

I'm pretty happy about this on a personal level. Fulghum played for my team in Coventry last season and he's a Colorado native. I hope he gets a chance to move up to Lake Erie at some point, because he's got too much raw skill, just tries too hard.

Yeah I loved Luke as well and it killed me when we had to get rid of him. It would be cool to see him given a shot
