According to Toronto, sounds like they could have used a 4th liner.
Too bad they missed out.

Didn't think they would re-sign him with the signings of Jokinen and Ponikarovsky.

Kane-Burmistrov-Little
Ladd-Jokinen-Wheeler
Poni-Antropov-Miettinen
Cormier-Slater-Thorburn

Does Miettinen move to the 4th line LW spot and Wellwood/Wheeler are 3rd line RW?

Steckel or Mcclement aren't good enough? Plus Wellwood is too soft for a fourth liner

One year deal worth $1.6M according to Dreger. Not bad, a $900K raise from the $700K he was earning last season. Went from scoring 13 points in 35 games for San Jose to 47 points in 77 games with the Jets. He's been a pretty damn good third line forward the past few years.

Wheeler was our best offensive player for the last 60 games last season, he will be in the top 6 without a doubt. I'm really not sure how are lines will stack up next season, but Burmi won't be on the top line either most likely.

Andrew Ladd - Bryan Little - Blake Wheeler
Evander Kane - Olli Jokinen - Alexander Burmistrov
Alexei Ponikarovsky - Nikolai Antropov - Kyle Wellwood
Antti Miettenen - Jim Slater - Chris Thorburn

Something like that? I like the third line. All ex-Leafs.

I feel like Burmistrov and Wellwood might swap spots.

Happy to see this. He put up decent enough numbers to deserve another chance in the NHL.

Yeah, I'd think it's likely that Burmistrov and Wellwood will be fighting for the last top-6 wing slot.

That lineup is possible, although Mittens and Thorburn will be battling Cormier and Machacek for those spots.

Also, I wouldn't rule out Scheifele entirely just yet.

Huh. I had a thought last night that I coulda swore he already signed somewhere else but I couldn't think of where. I probably drank too much.

There is not really a terrible contract on the Jets.
Who would be the worse? I think Pavalec for the risk factor but it is tolerable.

Very cheap deal. Third-line scoring is worth more than that these days it seems. I guess no one was convinced by last year though.

Burmistrov will not be the first-line center this year, I can guarantee that. He could barely enter the offensive zone last year. The potential is there, but that'd be a train wreck at this point. He likely won't even center the second line unless Little or Jokinen is hurt. This one is closer, IMO...

I don't see Little being ahead of Jokinen to be honest. I agree that Burmistrov and Wellwood would likely swap second and third line roles as the season goes on. I could also see Cormier taking the 4th line LW spot and Miettinen starting the season in the press box.
