Toronto-Philadelphia

To Toronto:
Sean Couturier

To Philadelphia:
Jake Gardiner
Tyler Bozak
3rd round pick (2013)

Toronto gets a possible number 1 centre and Philly downgrades at centre to get a possible 1-2 defencemen, a good replacement for the 3rd line C position and a pick. Maybe a bit of an overpayment from the leafs but its going to take an overpayment to get couturier

What do you guys think? Dont be too hard on me cause its my first proposal

Not a Philly fan, but I don't think Gardiner is what they are looking for, especially for the price of Couturier. They need a big-ticket D man (hence Weber offer-sheet) to replace Pronger. Gardiner may get there but not for another few years at the very least.

Just have a little faith in the JVR center experiment before you start looking for another 1C

Replace the third with a second and you've got yourself a deal!

This thread was still on the first page, and was made two days ago.

Also, like it was said a hundred times in the above thread, Couturier won't be traded.

The value isn't awful, but I think Philly is very high on Couturier at centre - high enough for them to move Mike Richards. So I think they'd want even more if they were willing to let one of him or Brayden Schenn go.

Gardiner-Couts wouldn't work straight up... what makes you think this would?

Richards was traded before Couturier fell to The Flyers.

Sean Couturier will not be traded this off-season. The Flyers are simply to high on his potential to move him as a 19 year old. And honestly if the Flyers were to put him on the market they'd likely get better offers from other teams then Toronto could offer.

Value is there but both teams would probably want their respective players.

Yup, except the OP in this thread tacked Tyler Bozak and a 3rd round pick to his proposal.

Philly thinks the world of Couts. Toronto thinks the world of Gardiner. Both team's keep thier golden child, as they should.

Wait until Philly signs him to a long term deal with a no trade clause that kicks in 12 months later.

We've been through this. Philly has to add. Gardiner outscored Couturier as a defenseman while playing less games.

Probably where this proposal could've been posted. But it's pretty solid for a first proposal, OP.

this, i think at this point its better for both teams to just keep their own players. To Flyers fans and the Flyers organization Couts is a necessity (at least for the time being). Flyers are short on defensive centers and with Crosby, Malkin, Tavares, Richards, Nash and Kovalchuk all in the division he's not expendable short of a massive overpayment or in a package for a proven number 1 d-man.

That has to be the 50th proposal that I've seen that involves "a #1 centre to Toronto", but the Leafs don't need a #1 centre. James Van Reimsdyk will be filling that hole.

Either way the value is close, but I don't see it happening. Couturier proved he's a great player from his performance in the playoffs and I feel that Philly would like to hang on to him. And the chances of Gardiner being moved out of Toronto are not too big.

Couturier was also less sheltered than the defenseman.

Sorry, I'll rephrase that, JVR will be trying to fill that hole.
