Lack isn't currently better than Schneider was (although that may be due to age) in his 2nd year in the AHL, and he doesn't the playoff run to boot. I have Lack as a clear #1 whereas I have Kassian at a 60-70 player in his prime, (20-25, 40-45) with a mean streak, good defensive abilities, consistent physicality and intimidation. IMO, a player like that adds more than a #1 goaltender. We saw what Brown could do for a team.. I believe Kassian can add that to our team.

Where do you have Lack/Kassian's ceilings? And what do you value more between the two players I listed out (Kassian's ceiling vs. Lack's ceiling)?
IMO Lack has more potential than Schneider and has put up similar numbers on teams I consider to have worse defense.

Stats between Schneider / Lack AHL:

Schneider:
Year 1: 28-10-1, 2.04 GAA, .928 save%
Year 2: 35-23-2, 2.51 GAA, .919 save%

Lack:
Year 1: 28-21-4, 2.26 GAA, .926 save%
Year 2: 21-20-3, 2.31 GAA, .925 save%

Lack also has 2 inches on Schneider... + while Schneider is a cool cucumber in goal I really think Lack's personality is perfect for a goaltender, he's a goofy kid. He is known as a practical joker who makes everyone laugh. Honestly think Lack has the potential to be a top 5 goalie in the NHL.

Kassian is great, don't get me wrong, I think he could be a 25-30 goal 2nd liner but Lack has a high high ceiling IMO.

I dunno, the pre-gillis prospect pool fell off a cliff after the top 5 if memory serves. Now we probably have couple goalies, 4-5 defenders and 5-6 forwards who will make it. Biggest problem is the string of late round picks - not much...

^ Yep, definitely gotten better compared to previous regimes. Critics might say that it's not by much but there's already a deeper pool of prospects who will at least play in the AHL. Something that was rare to see before MG.

No kidding. I don't know what some people expect. You're not going to get a slew of blue chip prospects when you finish at, or close to the top, of the league every year.

The Canucks have managed to get at least a couple of guys from each draft that look to be NHL players. This team finishing where it has the past few years is not going to get a prospect that steps into the NHL at 18.

Very close between Kassian and Jensen for me. I'd go with Jensen though.

Calgary has a few. Bartschi will be a great player.

Kassian has proved the most in the AHL and training with the Sedins this summer I think hell breakout in the NHL this year. Jensen seems like he has the most scoring upside though. I also agree that this is the best the prospect pool has looked since...? I can't even remember.

Getting really sick of Sabres fans calling Kassian trash just because Marcus Foligno played well for ten games at the end of the season.

I'm sure they feel much the same way about Canucks fans trashing Hodgson because Gillis said he was a brat.

Time for #2? No one's going to challenge Kassian at this point.

It's Kassian's to lose at this point. But Lack, Jenssen and Schroeder could potentially unseat him this year.

Where did you hear this? I mean its awesome if its true

anyways Kassian is #1 for me. I saw enough from him last season to see how massive his potential is.

I just love how well he skates for such a big guy.

I don't think it's that bad, considering where we have drafted the past few years.

2004 as it turns out was the golden age as far as prospects. Kesler-Edler-Schneider-Bieksa-Burrows-Hansen, and there were others as well.

We are hurting if a guy that looked like George Laraque in his first NHL season (Kassian) is our best prospect.

Tony Gallagher said it in one of the province chats. He said he was working out with them and I think he attended that Nike Sparq thing with the other prospects too(not 100% sure on that)

Edit: Heres a video of Kassian in a lunge challenge.
