At this point to pry him from Chicago if they were to move him it would be to fill the #2C spot longterm (And no not guy like Gagner before it gets brought up)
Since it's the hawks and we are on HFboards. Leddy is maybe worth a late 7th tops. If he were a oiler of leaf. You couldn't get Crosby, Malkin and Neal for him.
It still boggles my mind why Minny traded Leddy for Barker. I thought Minny was pretty high on Leddy seeing as how he is from the state and he was "Mr. Hockey"
Makes no sense, the kid put up almost 40 points as a barely 21 year old 180lb dman... this kid has such a bright future for the Hawks, he can move the puck and should start working more on the power play....
the Hawks absolutely robbed Minny in this deal, you dont trade a kid like Leddy away that you got for snot so damn soon...

In all seriousness I can't see him moving either and I don't put much value in anything HockeyBuzz site, if any at all.
He's an excellent defensemen and for a guy so young, he has tons to still prove.

pressure by the owner to start winning games now. gambled that Barker could look like he deserved his draft ranking if he was in another system, while Leddy would have probably still been at the U last season if he'd stayed in-system. Chicago got Johnsson out of the deal, too, which i think was more important for them as they were going for a "win now". he got concussed and couldn't play, but chicago did add a $4m rental out of the deal. we lost the gamble, obviously. Then Edmonton picked him up for some reason. Oi.
I'm sure Leddy will be a regular for some time, but he still has issues (still young) to grow out of and was probably moved into the NHL earlier than ideal. I don't know of anyone who would give up a second line center for him at this point. maybe a young tweener who looks like he could hold on to a 2C job. Brodziak is our 3C and i wouldn't trade him for Leddy. All depends on how desperate the team is I guess.
I don't mind Jaeckel's writing for the most part - but the minute he brings up his "sources" and "whispers" of rumors he hears, I just disregard it. The Hawks aren't moving Nick Leddy. Bowman obviously likes Clendening, but I bet he likes Leddy quite a bit more.

Well he does mention Plekanec for Leddy (instead of Hammer). I'd pass, but obviously that would help our 2C situation.
As for Luongo, hell freaking no.
While I love Leddy, he's at a sell high. There's no Guarantee he will improve much past 40 points. Plekanecis exactly what we need, I'd seriously consider a deal "centered" around that. It would be more ideal to target Schenn or Couturier from Philly but we'd likely have to add. They have an abundance of young center talent and need a player like Leddy.
