Haha, not being willing to trade Kyle Brodziak straight up for Nick Leddy is one of the funnier (and somewhat depressing) things I've read on here. Bowman would be fired as soon as anyone in Blackhawks management found out he was even considering that.
While I love Leddy, he's at a sell high. There's no Guarantee he will improve much past 40 points. Plekanecis exactly what we need, I'd seriously consider a deal "centered" around that. It would be more ideal to target Schenn or Couturier from Philly but we'd likely have to add. They have an abundance of young center talent and need a player like Leddy.

The only way Leddy gets moved is for a legit top 2 C, or a better PMD (Weber, e.g.). There are very few are available around the league, so basically he won't be dealt for the foreseeable future.

The guy's best season was 25 goals and that was three years ago. Of course he's not a 30 goal scorer. He's only even hit 20+ that one time.
5 goals is a much more significant gap from "30 goal scorer" than 3 points is from "40 point defenseman," especially given that Leddy is a lot younger than Latendresse.

It's all semantics and this is pointless to argue - some of us take these labels very literally, and others view them with some flexibility. It doesn't really matter.
Fact of the matter is that Leddy is a young defenseman who has shown extremely promising offensive ability and whose defense has been developing nicely. Very valuable player to have, and admittedly it frightens me to think that someone really wouldn't trade Kyle Brodziak for him straight up
At this point to pry him from Chicago if they were to move him it would be to fill the #2C spot longterm (And no not guy like Gagner before it gets brought up)
Sadly this is true. JJ is morphing in to an Eklund wannabe where he is all about rumors. He might be the one internet rumor blogger with a worse hit-rate than Eklund has. I don't know why he can't just stick to blogging about the Hawks...I liked his blogs before he got obsessed with rumors and sources.

Take J. Stoll for Leddy. I mean Stoll is a 3rd line center but hey thats only one line from a 2nd line center, right?
Atleast let the guy hit around 40 for a few years before inflating him value like he is an automatic 40 pt guy.
it's completely understandable that they'd want to keep him around though or demand an over-payment to move him. He's young, and still has potential. We (wild fans) demand overpayments every time one of our favorite prospects are brought up so i know how that goes. Coyle for instance hasn't proven anything in the NHL yet, but it would take a lot to pry him out of our grubby little hands.
