Like I said, I will gladly eat my words, but there is nothing Burlon has done in the last four seasons to inspire excitement, or thoughts of a top four defenseman.

The Mark Fayne's of the world are very few and far between.

As a huge college hockey fan I know exactly what you mean, but I'm not sure Burlon projects to a puck mover.

Like I said, he looks more like Greene-lite.

If he's not very physical, and not a puck mover, and not going to put up offensive numbers, I probably don't want him on the Devils.

Greene also had much better college/AHL statistics.

A much better comp for Burlon's progression is Matt DeMarchi.

Gelinas took the clear jump in development. He is definitely firmly ahead of Burlon on the depth chart, not to mention Urbom and possibly Merrill when he turns pro. He may get his cup of coffee, but he will probably end up being sent back down like Vasyunov (RIP).

I don't think there's a player ahead of Urbom on the depth chart. Potential-wise, of course there are players ahead of him. But we know for sure that Urbom can function at the NHL level. We dont know that for sure about anyone else yet (except maybe Corrente ).

Hopefully they'll put up at least one full scrimmage like last year.

Maybe it was Semin accepting his offer....maybe not.

Maybe it was Zach calling to apologize for dicking us over...maybe not

Maybe it was Doan calling to ask how the schools are in NJ...maybe not.

Maybe it was hockeyinsidder or Ecklund looking for a scoop.....maybe not.

Maybe TG calling to ask if everythign was status Quo...maybe not

Maybe it was Chere looking for a clue...maybe not.

Maybe it was Clarkson wanting to ask Mr. Lamoriello if he can bang these two LA bimbos...maybe not.

Maybe it was a wrong number.......BINGO!!!!

I think Urbom probably is the first call up, but I'd like to see Gelinas get a chance sometime during the season. I think he's earned a look.

Yes, which is why I added not much can be taken from how they looked in a short clip.

I like Wedgewood. I think he has a solid shot in the NHL someday. Kinkaid, meh. Clermont has a ways to go.

I think Burlon is going to fall into a spot to be honest. Might now happen for a couple years. But he will be a injury call up and impress enough. Like Fayne did, nothing flashy just solid everywhere.

U agree he is on the lower end of our D prospects because he doesnt have 1 tool that is high above the rest.

I really wanna see how Seth Helgeson turns out. Normally i am not high on Defensive Dman but something about that kid has my attention.

We need a couple big bruisers on D that impose pain and instill fear in people. Volchenkov can throw some big hits, but he's not someone that can just throw people around.

For all of us wanting to move Tallinder it sure sounds like he would be one of the last Lou would like to move. I could see Volchenkov maybe being moved if a big body like Hegeleson really impresses in camp. I can't help but think with his style he'll be a guy who would get a good look.

I think from how Lou talked about Matteau he is hoping we found a Milan Lucic in him.

He used to be able to do that mainly in Ottawa, it sucks that he can't constantly crush people but I still love what Volchenkov brings to the team and his unreal toughness when it comes to playing through many injuries.

I'd gladly eat my words though.
He's probably not going to live up to the hype of being a 2nd round draft pick, but I still think he has what it takes to be a serviceable 4-6 guy. I'm not going to compare him style-wise to anyone, but in terms of lacking flash & numbers and still being a solid, yet-unspectacular player, a guy like Toni Lydman comes to mind. I see him as more of a strong skating puck-mover, more than a flashy puck-rusher.

I honestly don't expect him to be a big point producer should he make it as an NHL regular. Much less exciting than all of our other defense prospects. His overall upside might not be through the roof, but there's still a lot to like. This up-coming year will be big for him though. He can't afford to have another adjustment year with all the d-men coming up the pipeline.

What kind of offensive game does Burlon bring?
