Mike Morreale @mike_morreale

Seth Helgeson blasts home the winner just 31 seconds into the OT from left point. White wins, white wins.

Tom Gulitti @TGfireandice

Only goalie not to be scored on so far in 3 camp scrimmages? Northeastern's Chris Rawlings - undrafted invitee to camp.

What sucks is we can't save these videos they do post up like the only scrimmage they put up my video grabber would not grab it I want to watch it without having to stream the freaking thing.

Anyone have a method of downloading it?

I like the sound of that. Too bad Larsson isn't at the camp, I'd love to see how he pairs with these guys.

Where is Corrente? Is he no longer considered a prospect?

That'd be a nice pairing. Merrill's passing is great but he doesn't have a howitzer for a shot. Might be nice to have Merrill feeding Gelinas, something along the lines of Brian Campbell-Jason Garrison from this past season.

Gotta love prospect camp, time to get overly excited

LOL I don't know what became of his first round pick status.

Only games he got to play were when we were very low on D depth during the Maclean era.

The fact he's lower on the depth chart than Gelinas, and Urbom who are younger, and been in the system much shorter tells me they don't expect to get anything from him.

Which is why they're currently negotiating a multi-year extension with him.

Corrente for life.

A trade requires someone that wants him. Not likely.

I think he could have made it to the NHL, if he didnt always get injured. He could be a 6/7 dman on a team with average D depth

That's a pretty big if, because he's always injured. I'm amazed that he's even still in the organisation's plans.

Yeah I do not know how Corrente is still here he has been injured and missed a significant amount of games the last 3 or 4 seasons.

After watching today's highlights:

Black was right in the middle of every offensive opportunity for the white. Really impressed by him so far.

Gelinas is just on another level from anyone there. He's an extremely good skater, has a cannon, and isn't afraid to jump up and create. He may not make the big club out of the gates, but we will see him in Jersey this year.

Totally agree about Gelinas he's in another freaking gear out there but as you said the logjam at D will keep him from making the big club right out of camp.

He'll definitely get a cup of coffee if he keeps this up. I hope he looks this ready in training camp too.

Would be awesome to see him tear up training camp as well. I'll definitely be going to a few preseason games to get a good look at him.

We should get some guys together to go to the game in the Barclays Center.

Having him fight his way into a lineup spot is always a good thing. I also expect Gelinas to get a game or two assuming he can continue playing at this level and gain more confidence in the A.

Definitely. Feels great having so many guys fighting for spots. Healthy competition is never a bad thing.

The log jam in ~2 years is going to be massive. But again, very good thing. If they are all knocking down the door then you instantly have chips to get quality picks or improve the forwards..

It's a perfect problem to have. The fruits of re-stocking the defense are slowly starting to show. It's no sure thing all of these guys are going to pan out, but it's hard not get excitied at what the defense might look like in 2-3 years.

IMO looking at the short sample of scrimmage and practice. We have 4 defenseman we should be very excited for going forward in Gelinas, Merrill, Scarlett and Severson.

I need to say this walking on eggshells, but is anyone else skeptical of Merrill?

I really, really want him to pan out, but my god, I hate how complacent he is in his own zone. I really don't want to call it laziness, but I just don't see the urgency when pressured. I guess I can categorize it as slowing the game down to his speed, but it often leads to turnovers deep in the zone (as we saw a couple of times in the scrimmage). I watched a lot of his games at UM and there are a plethora of things I like about his game: His first pass, his senses in the offensive zone, his creativity on the PP, but he has got to get stronger in the d-zone. While his first pass is extremely good, he's going to have to learn how to deal with a speedy forecheck and starting the breakout quickly.

I don't want to come off like I'm a huge critic of his game, but at this point, I think Gelinas and Scarlett have higher ceilings than him.
