And he started off slow. No I don't see top 6 upside, but hey, what do i know?

He COULD be, but I think he could be better suited in a third line role.

All I know about the kid is that he racks up a ton of penalty minutes, and man does he score. If he can continue to put the puck in the net in the pros, of course he could be. Depends what path he takes once he enters the league: pest, or scorer with an edge.

I think he definitely can, but it'll be more of a complimentary top 6 role. Think of Downie's role on every team he's been on. He's getting 1st and 2nd line minutes yet he isn't among the top 6 most skilled players on his team, he just "fits" well. Same can be said for Marchand.

That being said, Marchand was a WJC star and Ross couldn't crack the 4th line on a seemingly weaker Team Canada.

Marchand in my opinion is talented enough to be considered a top six player.

He'll be a hell of a third liner, that will shine in the playoffs.

An awesome 3rd liner. Or just one of those guys that fits on every line playing his role. Similar to Burrows maybe (less talented at hockey and theatrics)

Playing style wise he reminds me a lot of Marchand.

I've never seen a board compare each and every prospect to top 6 potential. Seems with everyone we draft someone is asking, can he be a top 6 forward. IMO no Brad Ross will not be a top 6 forward.

If he can be a top six that would be great but he was never drafted for his offense.

He was drafted because he played the style of hockey that the Leafs desperately need on their third line. No Connolly, Lombardi and fake "grit" from Armstrong.

We need players who can talk smack, back it up and take players of their game. A good steady third liner is what Ross should be able to become.

I don't know what Burke will do this offseason but I cannot wait till Lombardi, Armstrong and Connolly are out of here after next season. All three of them are plugs that do nothing good.

It buys Ross a great year of development in the AHL and then he could become a regular some time in 13-14.

If they groom him into that kind of role, why not? He has that Tucker quality by all accounts...

All most of us have are scouting reports and internet gossip. Id love to see him play live.

Probably a 3rd liner... but he will be a beast for us, along with Biggs. I'm also excited to see David Broll, he is built like Lucic.

I've honestly always thought his offense was underrated. Not sure if he'll be able to be a definitive top-6er, but I think he'll for sure be a 3rd liner who can fill in on the top lines.

From what I've seen he's got real good hands and a nice quick wrister. Real excited for him.

Marchand was on a team that could win gold.

Canada was lacking some mucking ability... have come home with silver.

Ross coulda been a missing ingredient? You never know.

I think Ross has an outside shot to crack the NHL roster next year.

Same here. He will have to be pretty impressive in camp though.

I mean if by top 6 we mean a guy playing on the second line.... yes.

I dont think he is ever a true top 6 (which I consider to be 50 points a year), but hes definitely a guy who could be used in a top 6 wing role

If Burke can move out a bunch of players this summer, I think Ross stands a good chance to make the team, or at the very least get a solid look early in the season. His grittyness is something this team badly needs, to the point where I bet they would be willing to tolerate a few mistakes here and there.

Man I hope he does well, we need a guy like him soooooo bad. I can't take another Bruins Leafs gong show.

How is the WJC even relevant?

Angelo Esposito, Brett Sonne and Dido made the WJC team over Logan Couture when they were all 19

The three I mentioned are average at best AHLers, and Couture is an NHL all-star and 2 time 30 goals scorer

I get the player style is off from Ross, but the point is that not making the WJC doesnt mean all that much.
