Players still to be added to the poll: Fowler, Stuart, Orpik, Volchenkov, Liles, White, Whitney, Wisniewski, Salo, Quincey, Brewer, Regehr, Larsson, Gudbranson, Voynov, Nikitin, among others.

After voting, please write the name of the player you want to be added next. You may also mention it if you think a player already in the options should be replaced by another player.

Why include Lidstrom but exclude Markov and Pronger?

Why is Erik Johnson ranked 20th? There's a bunch of guys better than him imo.

The fact that the list has both Erik Johnson and PK Subban over Tyler Myers is a joke. Neither of those players has a season even close to as good as Myers rookie season.Neither of them have scored 40+ either.

Lidstrom played 70 games last year, compared to Pronger's 13 and Markov's 13. He was also voted before he announced his retirement.

Because this is a 2012 ranking. Lidstrom played in 2012, the other two didn't.

Lidstrom should be taken out and everyone moved up a spot because he's no longer a defenseman, he's a scout.

Markov and Pronger are still NHL defensemen as far as I know. Would Crosby be excluded from the forward list? Andy McDonald? No. Let people decide how much the injuries affect their ranking.

I didn’t start these polls, I simply took over at the 15th spot or so. At that time, Lidstrom was already voted and Pronger and Markov were not even options. I added both of them as options, but the big majority wanted Pronger and Markov out of the poll because of their injury problems. Sorry.

I agree that EJ probably went a bit to high...but the fact that you think Myers should go higher than him is a joke. One rookie season means ****. Certainly not worthy of being ranked among the top D men.

Erik Johnson-79 GP, 10 Goals, 29 Assists, Points 39, +11

2010-2011
Tyler Myers-80 GP, 10 Goals, 27 Assists, 37 Points, 0
Erik Johnson-77 GP, 8 Goals, 21 Assists, 29 Points, -13

I don’t think we can call Markov fully healthy yet. Fortunately, he was finally able to play the last 13 games last year after missing all of them before that, but he wasn’t near the defenseman he was before all his injuries and bad lucks. He was not really good and sometimes he seemed not to be totally comfortable with his knee either. When you play only 13 games in a season and only 7 the year before, meaning a total of 20 in two full seasons, we can’t expect him to come back and dominate the play right off the bat. It will take time, but with a full summer of training this offseason and some games next season to regain his game shape and timing, he may very well come back as the same Markov he used to be. But this is not guaranteed at all.
