And before you say "Not unless he's signed!", Weber is an RFA. You can negotiate with him now and work out a deal before you even call Nashville. You would know before your trade for him if he would re-sign or not.
Terrible for Nashville. Omark has absolutely no value and if the Oilers add Weber, they become a playoff team, so their first isn't that valuable either.
The only way Weber is traded to Edmonton is if one of the big 4 come back.
How do you deal for Weber and not include one of the big 4?
You don't. I honestly think Weber will have the exact same scenario like Suter in a year. He'll go where he wants to go. And giving up assets on a negotiating rights for one of the Big 4 would be downright dumb and I think everybody can see that.
one of the big 4 + smid for shea weber (signed long term before hand, RFA)
Weber: "Yeah, why wouldn't I sign long term before-hand so you can tradr me to Columbus or Edmonton instead of just signing with contenders like Vancouver or Philadelphia next year?"

We aren't saying he'll go there, we're saying that, if he did, one of the top 4 would have to come back.

agreed. but you never know where players will sign nowadays.
doubtful weber would go to edmonton but its possible id think.

I think you should look at what the predators needs are and if there is a fit from the oilers. And not what spare players the oilers have to deal off for Weber.
Weber would be very nice to have but I really like the idea of having four legit top line players in EDM. Our defense is hurting now but we got Schultz and Klefbom and Musil will be here in two seasons. We are not going to be as weak as people think we will be on defense in two years.
I would go as far and say that if Whitney is healthy this year that our defense will be good to go. We can use our prospects to pick up another top 4 dman to play with Whitney.
Whitney; trade
Smid; Petry
Schultz; Schultz
Sutton
It is not the best in the league but there is a good puck mover and a good shut down player with each pairing.
I would give up something like:
Gagner
Hemsky
1st
Musil
Petry
For a signed Weber, fab 4 would not touch. Yes, Weber is a RFA this year but next year he is a UFA, don't want to go through what you guys went through with Suter.
It's better than what Nashville is going to end up with, which is absolutely nothing when he walks next year just like Suter.
If the preds think they are going to make a legitimate cup run next year then they should probably keep him, if not they need to get back to reality and focus on the future. You do that by trading him to the Blue Jackets for 4 first rounders. That's a guaranteed 4 top three picks.

The only thing of worth Edmonton gives up in this scenario is the 1st. Even that will have less value with 1 season of Weber.
It's probably moot anyway because Poile wouldn't trade him for that little & Weber has little to 0 reason to want to sign with the Oilers. Few besides the Edmonton fans expect them to become a force this decade.

if its a deadline rental then bang on
but im pretty sure that whoever trades for him right now would have an agreement in place for an extension and would be dealing for one of the top 10-15 players in the game so think 'give till it hurts' when making proposals cause whether or not you want to give till you hurt or not... someone else will and nashville will take that offer.
As an Oiler fan not enough for Weber. As for losing him next year, they can negotiate with him right now, he is a free agent, and if he is willing to sign long term a deal can be made. I'd say a package like:
One of Hall, Eberle or Yakupov, likely Yak as the other guys have been there longer.
One of Paajarvi, Klefbom or Petry
1st 2013
Possibly another lesser piece or two.
Nashville doesn't do it unless Weber doesn't want to sign there long term, while Edmonton doesn't unless he is willing to sign there long term.
