Right now, Luongo by a bit... over 5 years, I'd probably go with Lehtonen

Although I don't watch Lehtonen as much as I do Luongo/Howard, I hear great things about him. Howard always struck me as over-rated (Hope I don't get flamed for this opinion)

This should actually be two polls - better now, vs. five years from now.

I don't even think five years ago... I think Lehtonen might be over Lou in as few as 3 years.

But right now its still Luongo

Right now, Luongo, in a few years, probably Lehtonen.

I'd take Kari over every goalie in the league besides Rinne, Lundqvist, and Quick. He carried our ****** defense for long stretches over the last couple years.

Didn't everybody say the same thing about Quick? Product of a great LA defense? Choke artist? Has one great season/wins Stanley cup, and now everybody can't get off his jock.

Howard plays for 3 years. Get's a Calder nomination. All-star appearance, plus a had a vezina run before a slew of injuries this year. He's overrated.

I really don't get this board. If he posts the same stats with a neutered defense (what we know he's capable of, not his sophomore slump year), then what? It's all Zetterberg and Datsyuk? Probably still a product of the Red Wings I'm guessing; aka overrated.

Lehtonen has had a better season that Luongo once in 7 years, and that was by the smallest of margins, 7 years ago.

Lehtonen is a lot better than people think - he's not far from Luongo - but he's clearly not as good. In 5 years, that depends on Lehtonen's injuries and Luongo's inevitable decline... can either of them fight them off?

Luongo is perpetually underrated on HF and even despite being a fan of a rival team, I have no problem realizing that.

Even strength save percentage is what determines the best goalies now? Not to mention Kari had just entered the league in 05-06 and meanwhile played several injury shortened seasons with Atlanta before being traded.

Since arriving in Dallas he has been one of the most underrated goalies in the league, carrying a team whose best defender is Goligoski (good, but not a clearcut top pairing guy). Luongo on the other hand has been a part of a few stacked teams in Vancouver now and has had what to show for it? Decent regular seasons?

If Lehtonen isn't already better than him (he is, in my opinion) than he will be very shortly and certainly will be when he's given a little more support in Dallas.

Right now. Luongo. By a lot.

In 5 years?

Luongo, himself, said there is not a lot of years left in his career (in the interview where he said it is time to move on). So I'd wager Lehtonen in 5.
