I think it's a given we here all love the Minnesota Wild, and this season is going to be so exciting now with the Parise/Suter additions to the team. And a full stable of young guns all becoming NHL ready.
Who else do you follow closely and why? I'm guessing with some folks they follow some teams with Ex Wild players, and they follow those teams because of that Ex Wild player. With me, I have a couple teams I started to follow after the Northstars left Minnesota, and I needed somebody else to root for. (No way I was going to continue following that evil Dallas team, lol)
I'd always liked the Flyers, loved the uniforms, colors, logo, and tough hard playing style of hockey they always seemed to play. I used to follow the Bruins also in my youth. Was a HUGE Cam Neely fan!
Now with the Jets back playing just north of our border. I will be following them too, and I really REALLY look forward to realignment (if it ever happens) and many fantastic series between the Wild, and Jets. Going to be great fun having the two teams so close to each other, and the great rivalry thats going to develop.
I like the Flyers as well. I really get into the Caps. I want Ovi to succeed
Also like watching the Hawks/Wings/Oilers/Pens play. Lots of talent. Fun to watch.
But really it goes Wild for me and then the Caps/Flyers.
Pens are fun to watch yes. I like some of their players too like Dupius, who used to be a Wild. But in last years playoff, I really enjoyed that Philly, Pitts series, and lost tons of respect for Crosby. I enjoyed watching Philly win that epic series. The best series of all the playoffs last season IMO.
I'm going to get ripped to shreds on here but the Penguins. I liked them when I was younger once the North Stars moved on (Mario was my favorite player at time). So once we got the Wild, I ended up still cheering for the Penguins as my "east team".
But I'm extremely pleased we outbid them for Parise and Suter.
I dont have any other favorite really but i do have sympathy for the Jets, they got robbed a team also.
I had tears in my eyes watching the last game the Jets played before they left. Was so excited when Winni got a team back. Some cities are just too big of hockey towns to not have a team. Quebec is another.
The Wild is my only team I follow closely, but when it gets to the playoffs, I just can't hate Phoenix.
Not a big fan of most our uni's in Minnesota as much as I like the team, but I just can't get into that Yote thing. Just can't get the vibe I need to root for them. Damn ugly UGLY uniforms. One of the worst ever I'll go out on a limb and say.
Also to add to my comment. I love watching a lot of the NHL teams because I get Game Center ever year. So there are a lot of other teams, I'll closely follow too: Avalanche, Blues, Jets, Kings, Panthers, Predators, Sabres and Senators. But that list is always changing depending on what players are on what roster. Last summer, five of those teams might not have been on that list.
But I try to actively follow every team because their is at least one player I like on every team.

True, i also hope the Nordiques come back, there should some rule about a junior programs, number of licenced players and rinks in the market or something.
I like Chicago. Don't boo and hiss me all you old time North Star fans.
It's more of me liking the city of Chicago period. Except for the White Sox all my other favorite Pro teams teams are Chicago. Plus I like so much of the city that's not sports related.

I respect the Chicago team, and the history they have. I also think they have such a classy looking jersey. It's old school but still awesome!
After the Wild, it's the Jets and Habs for me. Basically the same reasons as other people: they're hockey mad cities and I support the idea of hockey there. Awesome fans make the games fun to watch, too.
I wouldnt even consider them my 2nd favorite team but more so its liek 1a / 1b between them and the Wild..
Im was born & raised in NY til i was 13 . Then moved to MN where obv. i picked up hockey more heavily as a fan of the game/wild fan...
So this whole Parise thing is SOOOOO sweet.
Not only does he come home along with suter to play for us... but he leaves the Devils.. who i hate wholeheartedly and benefits the Rangers in that division...
Id probably sy MN Wild are probably 1a just because its much easier to follow and attach myself to the team since they are local...
Penguins were a team I enjoyed up until they won a cup. Crosby is one of my favorite players and I also like Letang, Orpik, Staal (yes, I know he's not there anymore). I liked watching them all grow together. But once they won the cup, I moved from MN, had less time (used to watch every Penguins game via NHL Center Ice), and got annoyed by Steigerwald.
I will root for the Bruins but only because of Seguin.
Essentially, it's only the Wild. If Wild is out, I like to see Crosby and Seguin do well.
Chicago. My dad's entire family is from the Chicago area so I was innundated with all things Chicago as a kid. Stll have love for the Cubs and Bulls (I like to see them do well, not that I ever watch the NBA anymore) but hate the Sox and don't really care about the Bears one way or another anymore.
I used to be a big Red Wings fan in the 90's, and also really liked the Penguins. So basically, I was a bandwagoner Those teams were so fun to watch though. Once the Wild came around, that was it for the Wings and the Pens, I can't stand either one now. In fact, I don't even have a second favorite. I'll root for a random team in the playoffs. Last year it was the Bruins, but this year I was indifferent to them. This year it was the Sharks, then the Flyers, then the Devils, then the Kings.
i love the devils because they gave us Parise and were so gracious about it.
I used to love the Devils, but then they signed our best player to a ridiculously long contract that everyone knew would be a bad deal when he was past his prime.
Then they made my dislike for them even worse when they stole our #1 dman by taking advantage of our player having good friends on their team.
