OT: NBA 2011-2012 Season Part 1

****'s getting real now.

The league overturns a CP3 trade to the Lakers cause of Dan Gilbert and company whining.

The Knicks are getting Tyson Chandler and amnestying Billups.

And now it looks like the Nets may actually get Howard and thus retain Deron.

I think it's funny that the commish of the NBA rejected a trade that involves a team the NBA currently runs.

Also, if the Lakers get CP3 and Howard in addition to Kobe, I'm permanently done as an NBA fan and I'm never going back.

As a Nets fan, the only thing keeping me aboard is the fact that they might be able to have the best guard + big man combo since Kobe and Shaq.

Go Nets!

If they can get Howard, me gusta.

Also, Knicks reportedly tried to offer Stoudemire to the Hornets...

Supposedly the Nets will also get Shelden Williams and Josh Howard today too.

Is the CP trade really making the Lakers better though, losing Gasol and Odom? At least the Hornets got market value back for a lame duck star, but the small markets didn't like the Lakers reducing their luxury tax significantly.

My honest opinion, I think the Lakers traded Pau and Odom for CP3 with the hopes of landing Howard in a Bynum swap.

Honestly, Kobe + CP3 + Howard wouldn't lose a single game. I really think they'd go 82-0 and then 16-0 en route to a championship as long as all 3 stayed healthy.

Which player do you double? Two guys on Howard, and Kobe's raining shots. Two guys on Kobe and CP3 is going to the hole non stop. Two guys on CP3 and he kicks it to Howard for a dunk. The offense would be unstoppable.

Then you have to play against that defense. CP3 is as good a defensive PG as there is. Kobe is as good of a defensive shooting guard as there is. And Artest is better than both of them! If you somehow get by that 3 headed monster, well, you got the best shot blocker since Olajuwon waiting for you.

Is the NBA relevant anymore? It is tough to watch on TV as there are so many whistles and stoppages it doesn't seem to get into a flow for me.

The NBA appears to be much worse than the MLB when it comes to competitive equity. The Lakers will be good till the end of time since most players seem interested in playing there. Teams like Orlando/Cleveland make runs periodically but when their young stars contracts are up they are forced to move them.

Are tickets at least cheap? I would rather see a college basketball game, at least the atmosphere is usually terrific.

Williams was signed to a 1 year deal. That guy has fallen so far since his days at Duke.

Lakers with CP3 + Howard was a pipe dream. Damn good dream, though.

Still waiting for the Heat to sign Battier and confirm themselves as NBA champs.

I'm very sad to see Battier go to the Heat. I really liked him.

Also, Brandon Roy is retiring to degenerative knees. Awful news. That guy won my respect by playing in the playoffs when doctors advised him that he should sit out an entire year.

Seriously, though, Battier was a great pickup. Guy's a statistical freak.

Unless Howard made it known he only wanted to play for the Lakers (and supposedly he actually wants to play with the Nets), why would they take Bynum and assorted other crap from the Lakers over the supposed Lopez/two firsts/taking on Turkoglu's deal the Nets are supposedly offering?

lol apparently Prokorov and Billy King actually met with Howard, this would be the all time stupidest thing any organization could do if true.

Howard and a league source say there was 'no meeting'.. Please be no meeting

The combo of Deron and D12 would be awesome to watch

Nets also upped their offer on Nene

I don't think the penalty against the Nets would be not getting Dwight Howard. They'd probably just have to forfeit a pick and some cash. Only issue with that is that the pick could be used in a Howard trade, but they could just offer Marshon Brooks instead.

I'll watch basketball again if Nets get Howard. They'll actually be bearable to watch.
