I think we'll just go until 20. Things are too muddled from here on out. Going with Howse on this one. After he camp back to the team in shape, he actually played well before getting injured. I think he still has top 6 potential.

What's with the ortio fans? He hasn't impressed at all, played unspectacular and that's being generous with the heat last year. I'd say the Ramo trade and the emergence or Irving and Brossoit push Ortio way down the depth chart and almost off it.

The poor kid has yet to get any kind of stability in his career. Just take a look at where he has played over the past two seasons alone. SIX different organizations.

Ortio impressed heavily with his WJC play and has an excellent raw skillset. Joni played just nine games in Abbotsford and simply did not get the action he needed to translate his style to the smaller ice surface. I will hardly hold that against him.

He still has a promising professional future ahead of him whether that be in Finland or in North America. I am not going to write him off just yet.

Coda Gordon. He's going to absolutely tear up juniors this year.

Check out his WJC appearance, this kid's really good; also check when he was playing in his element against a similar age group. Also, he's been playing against men in Finland, and not doing bad (nothing spectacular, but at 21 goalies still have a ton to develop).

Considering he made two appearances for Abb in blowouts, his GAA and SV% are even worse than they should be.

Also, Brossoit has done nothing outside of play in the Dub. If we judge Goalies coming from the CHL, Justin Pogge would still have a job in the NHL.

Kipper > Ramo > Irving > Ortio > Brossoit at this point of time.

Don't just look at overall stats, look at in game stats, and most importantly watch actual games before throwing tossing your cards on the table.

Kid looks like a beast, is a kitten.

On the beast scale, he scores a Kaberle, if this kid were to move up the Stevens scale up to maybe... a Gio or A-Train he would be a dominant NHLer.

He may not be a big hitter but the kid is built he is great at clearing the front of the net and is great in the corners just because someone doesn't deliver highlight hits doesn't mean he isn't strong.

For his relative size, he's actually not spectacular at clearing or corner battles. It's not a matter of highlight hits, it's a matter of "I don't want to go get that puck," it does involve him getting about a pinch more Bobby Clark in his game.

Look at Chara, that is how someone that size should be using their body. Can beat you using a stick that's a foot longer than yours and his great ability to skate (which this kid has, he can skate, now he needs to put it all together), can beat you by driving your ass into the ice or can simply beat you by your unwillingness to go into nasty places with him... see Ales Hemsky vs. Regehr c.2007.

Perhaps you saw him on bad nights/ I saw him on good nights because when I have seen him play he has been great infront of the net and has used his body rather effectively in the corner shielding the puck and pinning people, and comparing someone to Chara who is one of the top 3 best defenseman in the league isn't really fair.

It's not comparing, it's just how the big man Dman should play. Could have used Hal Gill too, Pronger? Just big guys that are physical. Doesn't have to be a highlight hitter, just has to be able to punish in corners, tough to play against.

I only voted Howse because he got himself fit again and kind of bounced back. Had it not been for that, Howse wouldn't even be in this discussion.

Yes that is how he has played when ever I have seen him play, he isn't the most physical player I will give that but I think he is a real good player he is alot like JBo with his positioning skills.

Yeah, only difference for me is I think I'd take Kulak with my last pick at 20.

Howse, Ortio, Gordon imo. I really don't get what people like about Chris Breen besides his size. The reports coming from those who viewed the prospects camp agree with me.

Because all of the arguments you used against Ortio are even more prevalent with Howse.

The guy is skating by on his WHL numbers this far, he was awful in the AHL.

But I was talking about the depth at our goaltending position and how Ortio is way down the depth chart because of his numbers, not about how Ryan howse is doing in the AHL. My arguments would be prevalent to howse if he were a goaltender.
