Prospect poll, 2012: #5

Good race for #4 this time, lots of hmming and hawing but in the end it was taken by:

Jeremy Morin

#1: Brandon Saad, LW (81.82%)
#2: Teuvo Teravainen, LW/C (59.62%)
#3: Mark McNeill, C (48.00%)
#4: Jeremy Morin, LW (36.84%)

If there is someone you want to see included in the poll to be voted on make sure you say something in the thread before you want to vote for him. Adding a couple names to this one.

Three more days to vote.

While I intended to keep voting Calnan until he was finally picked (I think, considering the lower top ends of most the people left and the ones who do have good top ends tending to have some damage, that the fact he is probably the best outright athlete in our system will push him up the list as time goes on), but for the moment I am going to switch to Johns because of just how valuable his game/skillset can be to the Hawks should he ever be given the chance.

Went with Olsen but it was tough.Gave him the edge over Beach/Danault due do his being closer to NHL ready than the others(IMO).Next one is going to be even harder to decide.

At this point any number of guys can be slotted in and made an argument for. The defenseman in me has slanted my pick and I went with Olsen. Certainly could argue any number of guys instead and I wouldn't necessarily disagree, but I liked a lot of what I saw out of this kid last season and think he has tremendous upside and just given the nature and importance of the defenseman position generally speaking and to specifically to this team that bumps him up on some of the forwards to me. Lot of guys you can have in this spot, though, and be perfectly justified in doing so.

What we are still considering D. Olsen as a prospect? ok that is fair enough he didn't play in to many games last year. If Olsen is a prospect well Kruger is one too.

Kruger played a full NHL season last year as an NHL regular, not even including his playoff games the season before.

Olsen played less than 30 regular season games and was a late season call-up and isn't really even realistically penciled in for an NHL spot this upcoming season. Kruger is.

Big difference.

Olsen's also a year younger, if I'm not mistaken.

Olsen's younger, hasn't truly established himself as an NHLer and has only been a Pro for a year and a half. He's definately still a prospect.

according to HF, Krüger has graduated and is no longer a prospect. Since this is HF, you go with their standards and rules for who is a prospect and who isn't.

Olsen is a prospect and has a good ceiling with proven he can keep up in the NHL in his few showings as physical DMen

He also has played more than 25 games last year, meaning that he would no longer be a rookie. Does that not count for anything?
