It'll be interesting to see how Pedro can handle the mentor role.

I'm a firm believer of Meek having injuries holding him back. Don't think it's time to give up on him.

I'm a firm believer the injuries have ruined Meek and the harsh reality is he's a AAAA reliever from here on out.

Even if he is awesome, i'd still like to move Jones to a 1b platoon with mcgehee, so getting another OF is possible.

Trade for pence and have an OF of marte, mccutchen, pence.

Haven't checked what SS are out there, but getting one to replace barmes would be nice.

Should we take Corriea out?? I dunno, I think let him ride out this streak of winning games. 5 straight is impressive, whether part run support, part good pitching, the combo is working right now when he toes the rubber.
When is the last time we talked about yanking a starter with a 5 game W streak? 1990-something? I'm so used to talking about starters with 5 game L streaks....

Another thing; Am I the only one who thinks that Mike McKenry could be more, maybe much more, than a backup catcher? His minor league numbers were pretty decent and I remember noticing that the day we aquired him. His ml numbers are well over Tony Sanchez's (except in the K dept.) and he's hitting much better than Barajas this year in the bigs. As far a defence goes I have no clue, other than seeing him called a 'good game-caller' for whatever that term's worth. Is his arm that bad or has he some other major defensive limitations?
Am I drunk again or can I see him with 15 HRs, 40BBs and .750+OPS (and 100Ks) as a regular? He does seem to have at least part of that knack for getting meaningful hit once in a while.
Plus, he's only 27 (in March) so he should be be on the up-side of improving and adjusting.
I'm not advocating him starting every game the rest of the year, nothing rash like that but maybe a 50/50 split with Granpa Barajas from here on out? If he doesn't implode, and the preceding 50/50 scenario might be a great test, why not give him the starting job next year? With an oldster as backup and mentor to both The Fort and Sanchez?

I'd love a corner bat, we lack one for sure. We also lack a leadoff guy. I'm a Presley fan but he ain't doing the job this year. I'd like to get an OBP OFer.
As far as Barmes goes he needs an upgrade for sure. But not too many average to good SSs available is what I hear/see. Plus, I get the vibe his D is better than average and his pitchers like him in the field.
Worst case scenario: in a playoff run I could live with him in the 8 hole, with a solid bench. We'd need some PH power and a Belliard-type for late inning D when neccessary.

Ain't it great to be talking about this (winning) again?

Agree with this. I'd like to see Jones moved to 1st and us get another outfielder. Jones has hit pretty well off of lefties this year.

I can live with Barmes and his defense as long as we have another bat and Barmes is batting 8th.

Burnett
JMac
Wandy
Karstens

Bedard / Correia rotate starts and split time as middle rotation options.

I think it should be Bedard 5 and Correia as another Lincoln in the BP if one of our starters has a terrible start.

Reds just gave up 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th. 3-2 Astros now.

Would be awesome if they could steal one for the Bucs.

I vote to change the title to something like "come on marte, lets go party" in large part due to the fact that i can't stand wandys huge baby head

F, the Astros gave up a 2 run double with 2 outs in the top of the 9th. 4-3 Reds.

Not likely the Astros can manufacture another 2 runs in one inning, and that is if the Reds can't pile on here.

I'm gonna start a new one when I get home...and that's the title.

Barbie Girl and I have an interesting history.

FWIW...out of all the thread titles I've done, this is by far my favorite.

Especially because I have to internally sing it in Homer's voice.

Reds with 3 runs in the 9th 2 days in a row to steal 2. Unfortunate, but we're still right there, just gotta keep winning.

At the time of the strike the Expos were the best team in the majors and the Yankees were in the top in the AL. Both teams went down as the 2 best teams that year. No they were really that good and at every position, really deep ball club

I would think that's what they would try first.
