Got the rumor on TSN 990 radio, rumor saying Subban want a big long term contract and the Habs do not want to do it so soon (he just got 2 seasons of experience), problems in negociation and Habs are thinking about Plan B.
As a Habs fan I find it a VERY risky move to trade Subban ! Do not want another McDonagh trade !
The trick is the Habs need to get a replacement D man back do they not. Markov isn't exactly to be relied upon at this point, so how do the Habs trade a young #1 d-man and get back a #1 d-man? Mike Green maybe? Not totally clear on the Hab's situation, so I'm genuinely asking.
Only "realistic" guy who is available I'd trade PK for is bobby Ryan but we need PK more even though Ryan is more proven. That being said Anaheim has other needs but just saying, it would take a lot to get him out of mtl so doubt it will happen.
Wouldn't want that attitude on my team... Greatly skilled player and I would love to have him in a few years but he still has a lot of growing up to do in the league.

That's too bad...
I don't think we will be trading PK Subban anytime soon.
Mtl hates long term contracts 6plus yeas type, and they are one of the few teams that still like to do a 2nd short team contract after they first contract, Eller, Daiz, Emelin, Weber, DD, Patches, Price, all got 2 year deals after their first contract. Same will happen with Subban, 2 years at 3M per is my guess.
Don't think we'd trade Subban for anything other than a top pairing dman not over 30.
Well you could maybe trade him for the rights to Weber (big risk) or perhaps if someone like Mike Green pops loose... But if you are hoping to get a top-pairing d-man locked up for at least a few years under 30... who would do that? I mean a team that already has a young top-pairding d-man locked up is not going to trade them for another young top-pairing d-man that is having 'issues' with his team (assuming PK does have 'issues' and is being shopped).
I think it makes more sense to swap PK for a high end forward (need for need) and try to get either a good prospect or older but still capable #1 in the deal. In this very difficult trade market, that seems to be a lot more likely.

We've stored Redden in Hartford just for this occasion.
Joking aside, I don't think the Habs will let him go. Too much promise and you'd never get fair value in a trade. Whatever the Rangers re-sign Del Zotto for should set the bar for Subban to get the same kind of deal from Montreal.
