I would do a trade PK for Perry but not for Ryan.

And I would trade Ryan for Weber. Realizing that didn't help me out too much, either.

PK will not be traded.

Put Pietrangelo in the same dysfunctional (management & injuries) team situation that PK was on last season, and lets see how he does. I've watched them both for a long time.... Subban > Pietrangelo. Always has been.

Right.. Pietrangelo has always been more highly touted.

Yea, touted as a bust why? Because he didn't make the NHL right away? Anyone with a brain realized St Louis was taking their time with him and that he wasn't a bust.

I just figure those people just have not actually watched him play for long stretches. He's one of the top young dmen in the game... People seem to ignore just how hard it is to play in a city like Montreal.

You mean the Perry who's UFA next year?

Alex Pietrangelo = future Norris Trophy winner, PK Subban... not so much.

I'm surprised PK hasn't been signed yet, considering the Weber offer sheet. If Nashville matches, would anybody be surprised if the Flyers moved on to Subban? Obviously they're looking for a defenceman, and they've now shown they're not afraid of throwing out offer sheets. Just like when the Oilers went after Vanek, then Penner.

Speaking of which, the Oilers should definitely be talking to Subban.

Edit: And just like in the Oilers' case, the Subban offer wouldn't return four first rounders, it'd be two firsts, a second, and a third tops.

That would make things interesting for when all those Oiler 1st overall picks might become RFA's in the future..

One thing to keep in mind with regards to the Weber contract, is it was clearly designed to price the Predators out of matching with all that money up front. Nashville may still match, but front-loading won't be an issue for Montreal. They're in a much better financial situation than the Predators.

The Flyers wouldn't dare offersheet PK Subban. The Habs would match and then F up the Flyers first chance with offersheets.

Depends the price. I'd take 4 1sts for subban.

Lol, you have been watching with some major homer glasses on. Please inlighten us on how he is better, maybe everyone else in the hockey world is missing something your amazing keen eye is picking up on.

Yes, they wouldn't dare! Scary Canadiens! They wouldn't put in the effort because they're looking for game changers.

PK isn't going anywhere. Bergevin will sign him but wants that middle contract before Subban hits big money. Subban wants more money because he's already far and away Montreal's best defenseman. This is just negotiating. PK loves Montreal and Montreal loves him... His buddy Price is here and signed long term, plus they've added some muscle. He's a polarizing figure but everyone wants a Subban like player with that much talent. Montreal won't be moving him.

Doesn't Subban's QO protect him from being signed to an offer sheet or have I simply not understood how the whole QO thing works?

A player can only be protected from an offersheet if he's going to arbitration. A qualifying offer only prevents a player from becoming a UFA.

Again, I don't know what kind of money Subban is looking for, but a team could offer 7 a year and only give up two firsts, a second and a third I believe. As for reprocussions (sp?), the Oilers are still waiting for Buffalo's response. It just doesn't happen.

I'm just saying, once a team like Philly commits to using offersheets, you have to wonder if they'll try it again if the first try fails.

He has two great seasons, and that's just looking at the stats. He annoys the piss out of everyone and he's a fantastic PKer.

Speaking of PKer, any Bruins fan who says they wouldn't want Subban on this team has to get their stomach pumped. Swallow the pride.

Well now....if PK somehow made his way to Boston, some B's faithful may just barf the first time the see him in the black & gold uni. So stomach pumping will not be necessary in many cases.

What about 4 late firsts? I wouldn't. Flyers would be great with Subban and I don't think 4 late round picks would come close to equally Subban, not to mention we need him now to build around, not to mention the damage it would do our organization in a very bad time to bring negative attention to the organization.

Would I take 4 firsts from Columbus? Different story.
