Open Championship @ Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club

My favorite golf tournament other than the Masters is starting in just a couple days. Last time it was at Royal Lytham, David Duval won his first and only major. Some interesting pairings the first couple of days:

Woods, Garcia, Justin Rose.
Luke Donald is with Mickelson.
Bubba Watson with Lee Westwood.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Tiger win or miss the cut, I have a feeling Dustin Johnson will be around there on Sunday again this year.

Is Duval going to show up?

Whose going to be the 50-something who hangs around this year? Tom Watson blowing it a few years ago still hurts a bit

Duval should be there I think you have lifetime exemption if you've won it .That was probably the most heartbreaking moment I've seen since I've been following golf. Darren Clarke and Ernie Els both did very well last time it was here, wouldn't be surprised to see both of them make some noise, although not 50-somethings.

Great tourny. Hate the time difference however.

Tiger has this, bet your house on it

Webb Simpson is also not playing, the last major winner.

I am thinking it is Luke Donald's time or the good old Tiger vs. Phil showdown.

Whatever happens, I love the Open and will be watching it all.

I like Dustin Johnson and Padraig Harrington this week. DJ has been in contention the past 2 Opens and Harrington's won it twice, and has top 10'd both majors so far in 2012. Don't like Tiger's chances.

Also, go Tom Watson.

'ave a go, Tiger. Break that snide.

I'd like to see Clarke do well, but hes been about as effective as a course pro since he won last year, has like 0 top 25 finishes since.

Always weary about this course. Could be some low numbers which always ruins it.

Edit: Yeah, 1988, 1996 and 2001 the winner was at least -10, ugh.

I doubt it will be that low. Apparently the rough is so thick and wet that players have been losing balls in it. Gonna need a really accurate driver to win(so Bubba is pretty well done)

On a course where Tiger may not hit a dozen drivers over 4 rounds, I think it's a safe bet he'll make the cut.

Tiger hits one 3-wood all day and, ironically, it's the only hole that he bogey'ed today.

Looks to be a good weekend if Snedeker doesn't run away with it. No bogeys over two rounds there is incredible.

Tiger a couple back, tons of good golfers @ the -4 number. Phil missing the cut by a mile.

I love Snedeker, he looks like one of the Kiebler elves.

Would love to see Woods and Scott play on the final day.

Saw some things this morning before again being deterred by news. If Tiger is going to win, obviously has to make his move tomorrow. Don't think Snedeker is going away. Tiger's going to have to go get him and have a huge Tiger round.

I am so hoping Snedeker does his choking tomorrow so we can possibly have that aforementioned Tiger/Scott Sunday final pairing. I'd love nothing more than to see Tiger stick it to that assclown caddie Stevie by winning major #15 match play style!

the fact Tiger is in contention and hasn't exploded yet should strike fear into the other leaders. You just know that there's a 64 or 65 waiting for him out there.

Snedeker not hitting it close to the pins, but his putter has been lights out. If the putter goes cold he could be out of contention soon. Tiger looking better than I thought. Right now I think Scott has the best chance, as all pressure will be on Snedeker and Tiger.

Very cool to see Tom Watson make the cut. Broke his own record of oldest to make the cut at The Open. If bad weather kicks in this weekend, he can jump over a lot of guys(not gonna win obviously, but still do well).

Snedeker finally finding trouble. Bogey and now he's hitting backwards out of his first bunker.
