Antti Niemi
Troy Brouwer
Tomas Kopecky
Adam Burish
Ben Eager
Brent Sopel
John Madden
Cristobal Huet
Colin Fraser
Nick Boynton
Jordan Hendry

That's just an astonishing number of players to turnover from a Cup winning team. Only nine players from that 2010 team are still with the Blackhawks. They completely gutted their roster of all of the important role players who helped support the top guys (Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook, Sharp).

The way Lombardi has managed the cap for the Kings really does have to be commended as one of the best jobs a GM has done managing a Cup winning team and bringing them all back.
Remember when we had folks posting here saying, "How many goals is Cap Space going to score?" and that Dean didn't know what he was doing, etc.

There never was and never is a guarantee, but you have to respect the man for having the goal of being a Stanley Cup contender not just for one year, but for multiple years, having a plan to make it happen, and sticking to the plan.

That's leadership.

Hey, Dean is the first to admit he made some mistakes along the way, but at least he knew he had to correct them and fix those mistakes. Now he's going to face a new challenge.

Could also be a case of Dean just finally getting around to sending the contracts off to the NHL offices... I mean this seems right about in line with what his QO would've been, so he may have had the contracts signed weeks ago and just let them sit while he was busy elsewhere. Or could've just been lazy/busy agents that was the holdup. Not sure who else King's agent represents.

And the Kings didn't win until they spent to the cap. So who was right?
