Could we add a poll to this thread to see where the general consensus thinks Luongo will end up? Would be interesting to see how much people believe the rumours.

I've been seeing some speculation recently that Vancouver are in no rush to trade him but I think if a new CBA is introduced with a reduced salary cap for next season than what we are currently working at everything will change. Which could lower Lu's value even more.

No Kadri, Bozak and a third still works mid season.

Most people would probably vote for Florida at this point.

We need a proper thread title mod. Luongo XXIV is an absolute disgrace.

As a Canucks fan, I would be more disappointed to see these soulless thread titles than seeing Luongo getting traded for Komisarek and a 5th.

Don't worry, us Leafs fans are convinced that we have no choice but to give up the farm and a 1st round pick.

If the Leafs acquire Bernier, Florida basically has Gillis by the testes. With Florida being the only team left vying for his services, I could see Vancouver hanging on to Lu.

I wouldn't care if Tallon is grabbing Gillis's genitalia, because if Toronto acquires Bernier I'd be laughing too hard to care.

It's a lateral move or worse.

Reimer's done a lot more than Bernier at the NHL level. They're the same age, and I personally think Reimer's better than Bernier right now.

How do you figure Reimer has done more than Bernier?

Bernier has tons of upside, and providing Burke wouldn't have to give up much, I'd be all for getting him.

In two seasons in the NHL, he's already played 20 or so more games than Bernier. He's posted impressive SVP on a shoddy defensive team, whereas Bernier's playing for a defensive oriented team and his numbers aren't much better than Reimer's.

I don't know who the better goalie will be, but it's obvious Reimer is more proven at this point. Bernier would be a new shiny toy, that's all.

Which is why I think it's laughable if Burke does acquire Bernier. Because it won't come cheap.

Just because all the Bond movie titles have been used does not mean the book/short story titles cannot be used.

If a new CBA has a lower salary cap, every single team will be effected. The floor would be lower too. There would have to be some kind of percentage rollback on salaries for it to happen. All the big market teams that make money spend to the cap. Does anyone honestly believe that the owners are just going to vote bring down the cap without adjusting current salaries as well? It is ludicrous to suggest so. CBA speculation and trading Luongo should be kept separate. They don't effect each other. Even if changes are made to contract lengths and structure, the owners will grandfather it in. They aren't in business to screw themselves over on the loopholes they took advantage on the previous CBA. If anything, the monster term contracts with low cap hits that may become extinct might be coveted.

Exactly !

We should start with "Never say never again" the unofficial movie... Just keep the Bond-theme for the whole Luongo saga !

Luongo Say Florida Again

Gillis Say Gillis Again

Never Gillis Never Again

Gillis Say Trade Again

Never Trade Never Again

...
