Oh and not to stereotype or include any certain ethnic group, but it is a pretty "thug" packed area, and yes most are black.

Your skin colour doesnt make you stupid though or violent. Being a dumbass does
Ya I live really close to there as well. Apparently there were multiple shooters and one of the suspects is in custody because he got shot, thankfully for both reasons.

I'm aware of the social problem so I'm not going to argue your point.

I just took exception with that individuals tone.

But plenty do nonetheless.

Anyways, I see no reason to bring up race or use this incident as an excuse to criticize Toronto like some people have.

I hope he gets life in prison without parole.

However, I highly doubt that will happen.

The guy who hacked off someone's head on a greyhound bus 3 years ago is now allowed into town for supervised visits, so I don't have much faith in our justice system.

The scenario is almost as shocking as the shootings.

I'll be following this story very closely.

19 people were wounded. So stabbed or shot, and three were trampled. Disgusting how wreck less these people were. Almost two full clips used at a house party of allegedly 100 people

It is pretty sad though that when I open these headlines I can almost guess one of the five or so areas that it would have happened in.

Ive always found Toronto to be such a safe city to be in at anytime of day or night, except for these small pockets of poverty which breeds tragedies like these.

Here are quotes directly from the Toronto Star

“Basically it sickens me. . . . It never used to be this way,” he said. “The new players in the game are playing it wrong.”

Ahh yes the players in the game.

Then our beloved top cop:

“Tonight’s event is unprecedented. It’s going to be shocking to everyone in Toronto, to everyone in Canada.”

How is this unprecedented? Is Blair angling for more funding or just another dramatic soundbyte? Happens all the time in these neighbourhoods.

I really wish that we could move past this politically correct garbage and see things the problems for what they are. Poor, young black and brown men are acting out a thug life presented to them as the only way to make a living. Its seems to be all they know.

Why can't this be acknowledged, and more community development projects be established? I know they have started a focus on the higher risk areas that has proven to be somewhat successful, but incidents like these only prove that more needs to be done.

As mentioned earlier, I live outside of TO as well and find Toronto safe as you are going to get. I feel much more vulnerable in the smaller Ontario cities (one of which I live in) as the "sketch" isn't as avoidable as it is in Toronto.

How? I would bet dollars to donuts that it was some sort of Toronto Community Housing complex; these people don't have to get up and go to work like we do.

To quote Kenny's dad from South Park

"When you are unemployed, weekends are meaningless"

Ahaha okay bud. Try not talking out of your ass so much. "this" neighborhood specifically nor many
Places in Toronto experience ~19 people getting shot in a night, let alone a few people. The east end of Toronto, even scary Scarborough is not as bad as you think it is. The report said what, only 6 gun related crimes in this end of this city this year? That area is not the best area of course, but it is literally only that intersection and then there are beautiful houses east and south of it. North has mornelle court which isn't very good but literally right across the street is UofTScarboroigh and houses in the upper six figures. West isn't so good with Galloway but its a far cry from what you're making it out to be. Maybe you should stic to your small towns

Oh and btw just 2 minutes south of where this happened you can find million dollar homes. Really shouldn't talk about areas you know nothing about

Sigh, this is just brutal.

Toronto is going to **** in every way possible. It used to be an American city with a Canadian twist. Now it's just an American city without all the good stuff the US of A offers.

Feel bad for the innocents injured, but something tells me there were more non innocents than innocents injured.

holy crap

I've been in TO for like 6 years now, the only place I've felt a little uneasy about is Scarborough. Even there, compared to when I lived in Boston or San Diego, was really not that bad

but this was at a party? What kind of a dick brings gun to a party?

Oh I am familiar with Scarborough. I lived in Malvern (markahm road/finch) long enough to realize I should probably not live there. I am also familiar with the nice homes down south in Scarbra. Had friends in them, Kingston Road seemingly being the "tracks" so to speak. These problems areas are the apartment buidlings and TCHC buidlings. I don't think that Im making it out to be anything that its not. No sense of arguing about the good and bad why not turn the conversation into acknowledging the bad, the cause of the problem, and what can be done to turn that around. Get some of the those people off the street so to speak and maybe they can find a career that will allow them to be shopping for the beautiful homes across the street. Simplistic I know but better than head shaking.

Suburban Gangstarrrz?

Difference between the two is that mommy and daddy have a trust fund for them to go to school once they "get older" Big difference.

The thug life stops there.

Ummm most of my friends, myself included had to work during our university years and take massive OSAP loans to pay for school. This laziness/thug life mentality is mostly related to one demographic regardless of how you try to stay "Polically correct."

Not suburban obviously, the ones who live in the less affluent areas. There are plenty of them, people just don't want to acknowledge it.
