It's really messed up that players like Shirokov or Hagman or Stapleton etc who would earn around 1-1.5 M here end up leaving for the KHL and then...Axelsson lol.
Remember that shootout move he would try every time because it worked once against Chicago.
It worked for him more than once. I remember seeing him do it the first time. I turned to my GF totally pissed that they would put him in the shootout and my jaw dropped after that.
It is a good move though, coming that wide against the goalie he has to anticipate moving from post to post which gives an opening after making a sudden stop.
Honestly, if he never left the league in the first place he would still be playing in NA and have a contract for next season imo. So I don't think it's too far-fetched if teams have interest, although I don't see it happening. He'll continue to be an overpaid SEL player.
We're looking for a center, preferably a #2 so Nielsen can be moved to #3. No room for Axelsson with Ullstrom, Grabner, Martin, Joensuu, and Boulton as our bottom-6 wings.
I really liked Axelsson when he was on the Bruins. Seeing him even at a training camp would be nice.
PJ is still better then scrubs like Boulton and Reasoner.
Martin - PJ - Joensuu
Thats a good 4th line. 2 big young physical guys with old gritty PJ.
Interested could really simply mean a two-way contract where they add his experience in to the organization to help mentor young players and be an option when there are injuries. Or it could just be a minor league contract.
Based on his agent's comments, it sounds more like he'd be in the role of PK specialist on a team that is already shallow on the wings (ie, a team that clears out multiple players in a big trade).
he plays center, now. his contract with his Swedish team will not allow him to leave before his next/final contract year is completed. I cannot make sense of this rumor.

Switching from W to C and back again is normal when players move to the NHL from another level. He would certainly play LW for an NHL club as he doesn't have the speed to play C.
If I'm reading the article correctly, Frölunda would need to give him a transfer agreement, meaning they get paid for letting him go.
Also, it doesn't really qualify as a "rumor" if he and his agent are talking openly about it.
I like that it could have a double meaning in English... "box" meaning both the penalty box, and also the shape that the players make when in formation.
it's the formation
it's the same with overtime, sometimes it's called sudden death here, don't know why

We also use "sudden death" to describe overtime. There was a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie by that title that featured the Penguins and Blackhawks. I've never really thought about where the phrase comes from.
