I really really hope this guy's not serious, but just in case, Rick Nash alone would demand more than that, let alone a top prospect in Fritsche. It'd be like 2 first rounders, and, um, wait, the blues have no good young players. No trade would ever go down with Nash to STL.

if Nash was going to St Louis, both Backman and Jackman would be going to Columbus in return, as well as quite a bit more.

Sheesh ... Toss in MacInnis (only if he decides to retire) for Zherdev, and I think you may have something here ...

I think we have a better chance of seeing Goodenow and Bettman mating on top of the Savvis Center than this deal going down..

..Thanks for the laugh though bluenotehockey26 - you certainly know how to make an impression with your first post....

Congrats all you "Experienced" posters for jumping down a newbies throat. I hope you are all proud of yourself.

Bluenote. Rick Nash carries a huge, huge price tag. So, as much as you would like this trade to happen. It will cost alot, alot more.

welcome to HFboards. Don't use this thread as a measure of what to expect here.

First off, thanks for helping me out. Secondly, I knew none of you would agree with this. Can't someone hope their team will get someone good? I mean come on, you all wish George Steinbrunner was your GM and could buy the league. But if you want a more fair trade, how about this?

Blues get:
Dan Fritsche- young gun who proved himself in WJ
Rights to Adam Pineault- played well in WJ, will become good 3rd line player
4th Round pick in 06

Blue Jackets get:
Petr Cajanek- improves more and more every year, will be 60 point scorer in 4 years
Mark Rycroft- got a chance to show what he had last year, his soph. year will be impressive
3rd Round Pick in 06

Someone good? C'mon guy - you've got Pronger, Weight, Jackman, Tkachuk, Macinnis, etc. You guys haven't missed the playoffs in how many years straight now? Yet you want the Jackets (who have never made the playoffs) to give up their franchise player and best prospects for next to nothing

Phenomenon is right - we are going a little rough on you but you also need to be a little more realistic.

I think the trade looks pretty good overall.

Columbus might have to change that 4th round pick they're sending to St. Louis to a 1st or 2nd round pick, because Mark Rycroft has the offensive potential to blow up the league. Yeah, Columbus would definitely want to trade Nash because despite scoring 41 goals last year as a teenager, his defense was suspect sometimes so he could be traded for a much more all-around player in Rycroft.

Ahhhhhhhhhh ha ha ha, where is the hypocracy here, I will bet that the second you saw the first trade proposal you thought what is this guy smoking then you turn around and post useless stuff like this.

I won't even comment on the first trade because there is no reason for Columbus to trade Nash. This trade is also off base...simply because of the Blue Jackets needs. The one main position that they are obviously weak (prospect-wise) would be center. So if they are weak at center, why would they trade their top center prospect and not get a better one in return (Cajanek is not a better "center")?? And if you look further, Columbus is deep with left wings (Nash, Zherdev primarily plays on the left but can play both sides, and Picard) for the top 2 lines. So why would they want Cajanek who would be better off playing LW?? But the bigger issue is Cajanek's age...29!! If it takes him 4 yrs to be a 60 point player, he'll be retiring not long after that...not worth it for a still building Blue Jackets team. Rycroft is decent but I wouldn't think he's better than what Pineault is going to be (especially to the Jackets). Pineault's size gives him a chance to be a 2nd liner for Columbus...an advantage over Rycroft. And with the right side also being a bit thin for Columbus, they'd want a better player in return for the right side. If I had to choose between all these players, I'd choose Fritsche over Cajanek every time and Pineault over Rycroft.

Is Columbus the Triple A affliate of the Yankees? Is this just some clever way of getting Albert Pujols to the Big Apple?

I'm a Blues fan, and I think this trade idea is awful. No way the Blue Jackets give up Nash. Especially not for that return.
