Absolutely which is why there was zero chance of this happening.

You could call it the China Doll line because 2 out of the 3 players are as fragile as China.

Again you have to take the teams needs into account. Does New York need a pp qb or not? There are few better than Boyle. And even fewer available.

As for Gaborik, Id rather sign Semin

Since there is no way the Sharks are doing this unless Boyle is somehow replaced internally or externally who cares
The correct answer was 'no'.

In no world is a 36yo, 50 point defenseman, worth a 30yo, 40goal(75+points) forward. Spin it anyway you want, no GM would make that move.

The value is probably fair, but it doesn't seem to make sense for the rangers unless they make other moves.

Doesn't matter the line wouldn't happen anyway.

Uh huh... didn't the Rangers bench Gaborik during the pos for a game? As a gm if it were possible I'd rather sign Semin

Both are only under contract for 2 years and should be expected to produce at their current levels for those 2 years. Age has little effect on this potential move.

This.

Given that the Rangers are in the hunt for another goal scorer in Nash, why would they want to give up Gaborik?

I think this post alone is enough to end our debate. It's clear you just don't think much of Gaborik, yet think highly of your own team's player.

I think New York's problem more that they need more offense from the blue-line than needing another sniper/goal-scorer. Too bad they missed on Justin Schultz. He'd have been a perfect fit.

Gaborik tore his rotator cuff in the first round of the playoffs. And yet still had more goals than Semin had points.

Buccigross is an idiot.

Not sure if anyone answered this but

He's had TORN ****ing ROTATOR CUFF. Everyone would play badly (if at all) in same situation.

Yeah probably, having over a .5 PPG in the playoffs, and 3rd in team in points while playing with one arm. HOW DARE HE!

yeah you said that already. Semin does one thing well, score. And Gaborik is better at that than Semin. Gaborik is a better passer and is much better defensively. So, if you'd rather have Semin, I'm at a complete loss as to why unless you are referencing the fact that Semin is a free agent and won't cost anything. Your posts do not read that way.

I can appreciate what he had to go through, but at one point it has to be about results: the Rangers are paying him very well and he hasn't been, for various reasons (some of which are outside of his control), the impact player they need in the playoffs.
I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Sather is shopping Gaborik around: he's as a marketable asset as can be. That being said I don't think the Rangers are looking to get rid of him, more like testing the waters to see if anyone bites.

Yeah. That's the reason.

But you kind of knew what you got when signed him.

Injury prone guy.

This.

According to Buccigross, Marleau was traded to the LA Kings as part of a 3-way trade for Heatley.

Would Detroit do this?

San Jose:
D. Helm
1st Round pick or top prospect

Detroit:

No way, from what I read from DET fans, Helm is pretty much close to untouchable. Adding the top prospect or a first is just overpayment.
