You know i was re-watching some of the videos yesterday of Parise/Suter signing, the actual news videos and all the delusional dumb*** fan videos, and I still can't believe it. I loved that thing the Wild put up yesterday in their one month aniversery, i think i'll need to see them actually play on the ice for this to really sink in, because it still is absolutely incredible to me. What a day that was, i'll never forget.

I would be interested to hear what players from the past 10 years you would compare Parise with, both style and production wise?

When I look at his effort, smarts and leadership....The first thing that comes to mind is that he is a more skilled version of Ryan Smyth......Both players are extremely hardworking, both work around the net, both are leaders, both represent their countries well in international play, etc.....Zach has some more offense to his game, and Smyth has a little more size. But overall, I think they are fairly similar in their style of play....I'm not comparing them as they play right now, but over their career...I see Parise's game eventually evolving towards that.

What do you guys think? Who do you think he compares to?

I think he compares to Zach Parise, the guy, along with Mikko Koivu and Ryan Suter, who brought the Cup to Minnesota!!!!!

I really try not to care about comparing people, he's a great player on his own who will put the puck in the back of the net and work hard on the defensive end and that's all you can ask for, that and a Cup.

Plus, why does a player HAVE to be like someone else? And its nice to have someone you can't compare, because you know hes that unique. (i.e. That great, Orr, or that bad, Sheppard)

They don't.....and I guess that kinda my point. There are many players that DO compare to others (ie traditional power forwards like Backes and Lucic.....play making centers like Sedin and Datsyuk)...these guys you can compare..

But when I try to break down Parise's game, it's hard to find another player at his position who I can point to as a comparible.

The only one I could come up with was Smyth, and that is a big time stretch.

So, yes, I agree...there doesn't HAVE to be someone else like him, and it appears that there isn't.

I don't know....it's August....I'm bored....and I can't wait for the puck to drop. That'll make you think about stupid chit like this.

Isn't Smyth a rather slow player, though? I think of Smyth as a better Brunette.

Parise's not exactly speedy. Plus, time will inevitably slow him down.

I think the comparison lies in both players' gritty nature. They're both garbage goal-scorers who make their living in front of the net. Parise has decent hands, though. Smyth has the edge with size, and plays a more power-forward style. Hopefully Parise's still contributing at age 36.

Well...at least others are finally seeing the true nature of a lot of Devils fans on this site. They're still ******** over losing ZP, although most of us saw this coming when he signed a 1 yr deal with them last summer. The funniest part is them saying Parise is overrated, and then continuing to argue on and on about him.

I hope both Parise and Suter have career years, the Wild have a successful year, and the Devils finish in the worst place in hockey-9th. Can we agree on this?

As long as Gaborik plays for them, no.

I've never blamed Gaborik for leaving, I blamed Risebrough for how HE handled the situation...obviously wish he would've stayed...but, in the end, I think things worked out best. I still like him as a player.

Love Gaborik, Lundqvuist, Nash, Callahan, McDonagh...

I'd support a Rangers-Wild alliance.

"Parise will not perform half of what he ever produced in New Jersey" NJ fan on main board.

He doesn't realize that he is representing NJ fans whenever he posts something. I know most don't feel that way, but he certainly isn't helping.

I'll root for the Rangers but my first love (other than the Wild of course) is with the Flyers.
