Very cool. Was anyone really worried this wasn't going to happen?

Nope. He said he wanted to be here, and wasn't going to the KHL. I took him at his word.

No, I don't think so - He is still too young for AHL service since he is coming from the CHL. Girgs can though (USHL)...

I know the rule... just curious if it still applied if there is a lockout

It's not a rule, it's an agreement between the NHL and CHL. Since NHL teams technically don't have any players if there's a lockout, they can't really assign those players to the AHL anyways.

Hehehehehe.... to all those pre-draft pundits and rumor mongers claiming he was bolting to the KHL, the word is "schadenfreude".

He could still go off drinking at 2a on a gameday and head back to Russia and make an absurd amount of tax free dollars in the Russian Recreational Hockey League.

What?
So since the agreement is between the NHL and CHL, and the NHL locks out it's players, then what prevents Grigorenko from playing in Rochester?

The NHL's agreements don't cease to exist in the event of a lockout apparently.

The agreement is separate from the CBA, even though I believe it is in the CBA as well.
