I dont know about "total". I would state "partial" 100%. And that partiality is up to the ticket holders.

You're right, they're always passing up a good stories in favor of no reporting huh? Reality is this is mostly worrisome hand wringing by an active fanbase. Those people may end up being right in the end, but the media sure isn't acting like McPhee is running the team like a fool. If that was the perception, the media would be killing the Caps and Leonsis right now. Media being national/Canadian media, because we know local media barely says a thing that's critical of team management...

I hope these hires can be used as the final judgement on George.

Doubtful. But maybe.

Hiring no experienced coaches yet again... reeks of fear of losing ones job to someone more qualified opening the eyes of the owner, at the same time risking losing ones job for not trying an obvious change in direction re: repeated NHL experience free hirings.

GM: "Say a little prayer tonight for the Caps". You can't make that stuff up.

The trend is disturbing:

1. Hired Ron Wilson - NHL head coaching xp
2. Hire Bruce Cassidy - AHL head coaching xp, no NHL
3. Hire Hanlon - see Cassidy above
4. Hire BB - see Hanlon above
5. Hire DH - No NHL exp, No AHL xp, OHL head coaching xp
6. Hire Oates/Calle - No head coaching xp period

Well on the bright side, one of us is up next if the trend continues.

I coach a mean "Flying V" for the record.

George has successfully weaseled out of anything negative related to any of his past hirings. Sure Cassidy was Ted, and probably bought him a few get out of jail free cards.

Fans were bored and upset with Dale and I am sure Ted heard it. Fans mostly got over it once they saw the turtle game can win a playoff series, but that didn't stop George from stating publicly things related to not liking Dale's system. Doing so when Dale is far away up in his combine harvesting wheat.

I wish a reporter would followup and ask George well why did you hire a guy with no NHL experience mid season, then.

Maybe Dale was not George's call. There are other players in deciding these things.

Why would you consider one of the top 5-10 defensemen in history with tons of NHL assistant and head coaching experience when you could hire a former Cap??!?

I assume you saw the video clip of him in the locker room at DCamp. It was after he spoke, and then Oates spoke, and then George threw out that awkward little request to all the KIDS in dcamp. Lord, hear our prayer.

I think George needs to realize fans are praying for a cup but its not how we will get one. We understand the cycle of sports teams, the ups and downs of rebuilds. If we suck a few years we get studs in the draft, and the cycle starts again. Us fans aren't going anywhere, we like hockey. We don't need a cup every year. We will all happily accept one.

I can't begin to understand why people are complaining about the "say a prayer" comment, aside from the obvious non-hockey stuff that we can't discuss here. It was closer to a joke than anything. Totally irrelevant to...everything.

Yeah, but when you look at the offseason moves he's made...

I think he was at least half serious.

If you were a real man and got all your opinions from the media like real men you'd understand.

You're just not mature enough bro. Wait until you're out of college.

Joe Reekie is banned from Kettler. I don't think he'll be an assistant anytime soon.

GMGM didn't hire Wilson. Wilson and he were hired together by the brass at the time.

GMGM has never hired a head coach with prior NHL coaching experience.

You sure?

I thought I was reading an article not too long ago during the season (after the Hunter hire) which had Abe calling GMGM to let him know he was hired and then GMGM later telling Abe he had Ron Wilson in mind as coach. Abe said something like "what are you waiting for?"
