Not without a true number one C.

And Carlyle won't play loosey goosey, run and gun.

Isn't the important point that he doesn't need to score 50 goals if he contributes in other ways?

The 40/50 assists he gets will be a good start.

Consistent 50 goal scoring is near impossible. 40 is reasonable for the elite.

As a Boston fan I think he has the potential. Give him an elite center and he is dynamite. When he was only 21 he was on pace for 50 goals halfway through the season when he played with Savard (then he got mono and later a torn labrum which made him tail off considerably).

Carlyle's teams have always been high scoring ones. No its not run and gun but its certainly not a no offense system.

If you put a Getzlaf/Thornton/Malkin/Crosby with him, he will definitely destroy that 50 goal barrier.

With a lesser center, I think 40 is his peak.

Kessel won't go to the dirty areas and that whats been limiting him so far . Stamkos scores in multiple ways and that's why he put's up much higher totals .

Yes, that was during the era when players were getting 60-70 goals in a season. It's just like noone will ever beat Gretzky's record(s), there's no point comparing players of different eras.

Gartner was more like a Jason Blake (or Frattin) for style, Kessel, on the other hand, has great vision, and stick handling skills on top of his speed and sniping ability. Gartner has also played with some very good players on the team (behind the PPG+ line of Clark - Gilmour - Andreychuk), which allowed him to face lesser matchups, and score on pace for 30'ish goals for 3 seasons with us from the 2nd line. Not only were defenseman worse than they are now, but he didn't even have to face the top defenders in the league on most nights. With all due respect to Gartner, he's got nothing on Kessel.

if kessel played when, there was cluching, holding, hooking, grabing ,punching allowed, kessel, would not even get 10 goals.

If Kessel scores only 20 goals, we are not making the playoffs.

I'm going to guess Stamkos scores more on the PP with his one timer.

I wouldn't compare Kessel to Gretzky either. But I do compare Kessel's surprising consistency (to date) to that of Gartner.

Kessel scored 36 and the leafs didn't make it either.
But I won't mind a more defensively responsible Kessel if it means the leafs win.

Sorry to break it to you but P and N weren't on Ana when Perry scored 50 goals.

How so? Perrys 50 goal season would agree. its not going to be similar offense to RW, but there will always be trying to create offense in various ways.
