Carolina - Minnesota

To Carolina
LW Devin Setoguchi
RW Darroll Powe

To Minnesota:
D Jamie Mcbain
LW Zach Bocyhuk
2013 3rd round pick

Found this on bleacher report, excpet there it was a sixth round pick but I thought a 3rd seemed more fair, what do you guys think?

Might be just me, but it seems like just a tad too much heading to Minny. Granted, I'm not a fan of either team, so I could be completely off.

Not sure why Powe and Boychuk are attached to the deal...

Why would Minnesota make this deal? Doesn't seem to serve a purpose at this point to trade anyone until one of the kids steps up and shows someone up at training camp.

Pass.

Boychuk to sweeten it, and Powe because he's a fourth line grinder, which is something Jim Rutherford said he wants.

We have plenty of 4th liners. I'd rather leave Powe out of it and streamline the package.

Can't any Wild proposal ever involve someone other than Seto or Clutter?

Would you like to go back to the days where Granlund, Brodin and Coyle were throw-ins for a 2nd pairing/line F or D?

What's the love affair with Setoguchi that some Canes fans have? Chad LaRose outscores him even strength with significantly less TOI. I realize scoring isn't everything, but the Canes are looking for a true top 6 forward that can score and play alongside Staal.

I'd pass. I'm tired of Rutherford trying guys who "might be" top line material or "once were" top line material or "could use a change of scenery".

I've heard Cullen might be on the block. Besides the fact that JR loves to recycle, the Canes could actually use Cullen.

Would Sanguinetti + mid round pick for Cullen work?

I think you've heard wrong...

Quick breakdown, which I'll just paste from my desktop since it seems to come up a lot...

Players Minnesota will definitely not trade:
Forwards:
Parise, Koivu, Heatley, Brodziak, Cullen, any forward prospect.
Defense: Suter, Gilbert, Scandella, Spurgeon, Brodin, Dumba.
Goalies: Backstrom, Harding, Hackett.
Players Minnesota are not looking to trade:
Forwards: Setoguchi, Clutterbuck, Mitchell, Kassian, Konopka.
Players Minnesota may entertain offers on:
Forwards: Powe, Bouchard
Defense: Stoner, Falk, Prosser.
Quick Reasons: Parise, obvious. Koivu, obvious. Heatley, will not trade as he is loved in the locker room and was instrumental in getting Suter. Brodziak, Fletcher and Yeo love the guy, so do the fans. Cullen, hugely active in the community and the Wild have been pushing his charity all summer. The entire listed defense for obvious reasons.
Mitchell was brought in to make Setoguchi happy, therefore if there was an overpayment for both Seto and Mitchell, GMCF would probably make that deal. Clutterbuck has value and could be move for another overpayment. Kassian and Konopka are not going anywhere.

Powe could be moved for a pick. Bouchard is mostly untradeable, but he'd likely be the odd mad out. Our bottom pairing defense is also exceptionally full, so one of those three could easily be moved out. Prepare to see Prosser waived to be sent down to Houston, so if you want him, just wait for a waiver wire pickup opportunity. I doubt GMCF would risk Stoner or Falk on waivers, but he would Prosser.

There you have it in a nutshell.

Possible targets available from the Wild: Bouchard, Powe, Stoner, Falk, Prosser.

Setoguchi and Clutterbuck would make the most sense in a trade but Wild fans probably wouldn't be happy with the return for Clutter and Seto would be selling low.

Cullen has a Limited NTC. He's not going anywhere until his contract expires.
