Blackhawks @ Flames - Therapy For Glencross, STAT

VERSUS
HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA, LATE GAME
SATURDAY FEBRUARY 2, 2013

These are the Flames I Know

These are the Flames I know, I know
These are the Flames I know
These are the Flames I know, I know
These are the Flames I know

Jarome Iginla

He shops in my dad's store
He's played here for 16 years
He'll probably play here for more

These are the Flames I know, I know
These are the Flames I know
These are the Flames I know, I know
These are the Flames I know

Mark Giordano

He started here in two thousand six
He resembles Mister Bean
And his ATB commercial is sick

These are the Flames I know, I know
These are the Flames I know
These are the Flames I know, I know
These are the Flames I know

Some of them are Future Flames
[But most of us are just Flames]
They all have their own hands
But they come from different moms

These are the Flames I know, I know
These are the FlamesI know
These are the Flames I know, I know
These are the Flames I know

Johnny Gaudreau

Man, this cat can play
He weighs almost 150 pounds
And delivers his research papers on time

These are the Flames I know, I know
These are the Flames I know
These are the Flames I know, I know
These are the Flames I know

Roman Červenka

I hardly know him
...
[awkward pause]

These are the Flames I know, I know
These are the Flames I know
These are the Flames I know, I know
These are the Flames I know

We are the Flames he knows, he knows
We are the Flames he knows
We are the Flames he knows, he knows
We are the Flames he knows

Some of us them are Future Flames
But most of us are just Flames
We all have our own hands
But we come from different moms

These are the Flames I know, I know
[Flames: We are the Flames he knows, he knows]
[All: These are the Flames]

PREVIEW: http://flames.nhl.com/club/preview.htm?id=2012020116
WATCH: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockeynightincanada/ (or www.atdhe.eu)
LISTEN: http://player.rogersradio.ca/cfac/on_air

These are the Blackhawks, whom I do not know.

Saad - Toews - Hossa
Sharp - Bolland - Kane
Bickell - Shaw - Stalberg
Mayers - Krüger - Frolik

Keith - Seabrook
Hjalmarsson - Oduya
Leddy - Rozsival

Crawford
Emery <-- gets the start
(courtesy: Yahoo sports, so the lineup might will be wrong)

Expected Flames lineup: (lines 2-4 subject to change after Hartley pulls names from the fireman's helmet)

Hudler - Stajan - Cervenka
Cammalleri - Tanguay - Iginla
Glencross - Backlund - Stempniak
Jones - Begin - Comeau(?)

Bouwmeester - Giordano
Wideman - Brodie
Smith - Buttler

Kipper

(Kipper allegedly tried to commit suicide after the last game by jumping in front of a bus, but it went between his legs)

Chicago played last night, and lost in a shootout. They remain undefeated in regulation. Therefore....

Well ladies and gentlemen, there's your game day thread. It is awful, as promised.

I'm exhausted - these are too much work. I'm also lazy, which doesn't help.

I leave you with this. A random Chicago joke courtesy of the internet.

Quote:
Two boys are playing hockey on a pond in Grant Park when one is suddenly attacked by a rabid rottweiler.

Thinking quickly, the other boy takes his stick and shoves it under the dogs collar, twists it breaking the dog's neck and saving his friend.

A reporter who was strolling by sees the incident. "Hawks Fan Saves Friend From Vicious Animal," he starts writing in his notebook.

"But I'm not a Hawks fan," the little hero replied.

"Sorry, since we are in Chicago I just assumed you were," said the reporter and he starts writing again. "Bears Fan Rescues Friend From Horrific Attack."

"I'm not an Bears fan either," the boy said.

"Oh, I assumed everyone in Chicago was either for the Bears or the Black Hawks. What team do you root for?" the reporter asked.

"I'm from San Fransisco, I'm a 49er's fan," the child said.

The reporter starts a new sheet in his notebook and writes, "Little ******* From San Fransisco Kills Beloved Family Pet."
On that note, Go 49ers!

and

GO FLAMES GO!

I expected them to win the Avs game and they didn't. Even though Chicago went to a shootout in Vancouver, my expectations for a Flames win is pretty minimal. Chicago is playing too good and we aren't.
Still hoping for a Flames win, but not expecting it.
5-3 Chicago.

Irving? No? Okay, well then.

I'll be at this one so, y'know, hooray, I get to see them lose in person. Sweet.

Flames still control their destiny because of games in hand.

They can pass Columbus, Phoenix, Colorado and Dallas.

They can tie Nashville and Minnesota.

This is based on winning 2 or 3 games in hand on those teams.

Let's hope tonight is the start of a winning streak.

Either win tonight and do well for the rest of the season, or lose tonight and do horrible for the rest of the year.

Please.

Looks like we could have a couple new lines today
Hudler - Stajan - Cervenka (staying together)
Cammy - Tanguay - Iginla
Glencross - Backlund - Stemps

and Sarich sits after his terrible game thursday leaving us with
Smith - Butler

Cammy - Tangs - Iginla is good to see. Hopefully this gives some spark to Cammy.

Two scenarios, we'll know it right at the start of the game:

Flames come out hard, with a win 5-3.
Flames come out soft, with a Loss 5-1

Fantastic GDT, love me some Kids in the Hall.

Flames dominate the first, then decide to leave Kipper out to dry... Not unlike my beer league team. 3-2 Hawks.

Flames have absolutely no business winning this game, therefor:

6-1 Flames Victory, and we begin to plan the parade.

I'm just going to start assuming we lose every game. This way, I can't be disappointed in the results of a game.

Predictions:

Kipper plays mediocre at best.
Hudler get's injured again.
Iginla doesn't score.
One of the possible two scenario's occur:
#1. Flames come out strong in the 1st, Collapse in the 2nd, play catch up in the 3rd
OR
#2. Flames collapse in the first, rebound in the 2nd, then lose in the 3rd.
