Not true. Some prospect's production/play has fallen off this year (McNabb, Varone). Pysyk and Sundher are fine. Sundher had one of his best games last night. He is playing a prominent role on the 2nd line now that the lockout is over.
Other prospects like Brennan, Flynn, Foligno and Girgensons have progressed as well.
JGL is a top flight prospect, but his defense has been a ? since before he was drafted.
I'm glad Sundher is doing better.
I was hearing that Pysyk has been regressing since his first month and Sundner has really struggled all year. Girgensons progress has been highly controversial and Flynn wasn't even on my radar for prospects. And, all I've heard is how horrific Brennan is in his own zone. That doesn't sound like progress to me.
Foligno is an NHLer, so I didn't really expect him to struggle in the AHL, much like Hodgson, but he did develop well last year.
You are right JGL's defence has always been questionnable. My comments were that he should be playing on the PP to get his feet wet, since that is his bread and butter.
That's not just the Amerks fault though, a lot of the blame can be attributed to the coach and the overall roster quality, both of which the Sabres are responsible.
I find the constant nagging from some Rochester-fans pretty annoying but you can't deny that they have some valid points and JGL having problems in his first pro-season isn't just Rochesters fault, the player as well as the Sabres are just as much to blame.
Fair enough. You can blame the Sabres for hiring Rolston. I'm just blaming Rochester in the sense that he is the coach and the players aren't developing from what I keep hearing. I realize it is the Sabres call to get rid of him.

I agree. If JGL is in the lineup then he should be on the PP since that is his bread and butter.
Pysyk started to struggle some. Inconsistency is to be expected from young players. He's only had three minus games in December and January (17 games total). Not bad from a rookie.
I watched the last game online. The defense looked the best they have all year:
Pardy Biega
McNabb Pysyk (they haven't played together much this season)
Schiestel Crawford

For his sake he needs to cut his teeth in the ECHL. Crawford and to some extent Schiestel where their JR teams specialist and need to be used. Having said that we know how this organization is utilizing Schiestel so Crawford needs to be relied on more before JGL.

Syracuse, already one of the best teams in the league, just picked up veteran JF Jacques today for future considerations. It's absolutely amazing to see how differently teams approach the AHL. Regier will sit there all season and do nothing, while others teams are active and always looking to improve.

Amerks explode early - Sundher from Porter - :13 - Porter on a breakaway from McNabb - :53 and Roy taps home a rebound from Schofield - 5:45. 3-0 Amerks. Bulldogs get one back - Leblanc slapper - 8:15 - now 3-1 Amerks.

Thats AHL.com for ya - sometimes if there is a goal scored by Team A and then Team B scores like a minute or so later - Team B is updated first. This definiately happens if your following the text box score and keep getting your updates there by reloading the page.
Bulldogs within one - Stortini outmuscles a couple of Amerks to the loose puck after Roy makes a save - jams it home - 16:15. 3-2 Amerks.
A minute earlier - Legault was robbed by Mayer - flying stick save.
Man I should stop listening - Amerks were up 3-0 when I turned on the "radio".
In the third fight of the period - Sundher and Dumont go at it - Sundher nailed a good left.
Other two fights were - Tarnasky-Stortini and McNabb and Hagel.
End first - Amerks 3 Bulldogs 2. Shots on Goal - Amerks 12 Bulldogs 9 - was 10-2 Amerks first 10 mins.
does anybody know how long will girgensons be out with the injury?
From earlier this afternoon:
Kevin Oklobzija @kevinoDandC
#Amerks rookie LW Zemgus Girgensons (concussion) remains out, and I assume his absence is more mid- to long-term than short-term.

Bulldogs tie it up with a early goal of their own - Tenute - knuckler eludes Leggio - McNabb helped with a screen. 3-3 - :24.
Amerks come right back - Schofield slapper goes five-hole - 4-3! - Varone and Schiestel with helpers - 1:47.
Schofield should have had another a minute later - empty net miss after Mayer booted a rebound out to him.
Flynn with a empty net chance - nails the post - his second - teams third - of the game.
Rankin makes it a two-goal game - 5-3 Amerks! Pardy pass across the crease - off Rankins stick and then skate and goes in.
Its being reviewed - goal stands. Biega with the other assist. Pardys first point as a Amerk - 8:42.
End of 2nd - Amerks 5 Bulldogs 3. Shots on Goal - 11-11 in the 2nd - Amerks 23-20 after 2nd.
Kevin Oklobzija @kevinoDandC - #Amerks D Schiestel gets tangled up with partner Crawford as they defend a 3-on-2. Could be his knee -- again.
Kevin Oklobzija @kevinoDandC - #Amerks D Schiestel is being helped off. No weight on his left leg. Not good at all. Whips off his glove in anger.
Kevin Oklobzija @kevinoDandC - #Amerks D Schiestel needed ligament reconstruction in his right knee in 2011. This was his left knee/leg.
LS: Amerks score on the PP - Flynn finally gets one - re-direct top shelf - Mancari and Pysyk assists - 6-3 Amerks - less than 5 mins left.
Final Score - Rochester Americans 6 Hamilton Bulldogs 3. http://instagram.com/p/Uwm6QhLl7N/
Shots on Goal- Hamilton 9-11-4-24. Rochester 11-11-11-34.
Power Play Opportunities - Hamilton 1/2; Rochester 1/2.
Goalies- Hamilton - Mayer 8-8-3 (34 shots-28 saves). Rochester - Leggio 19-12-1 (24 shots-21 saves).
A-4,228 - Three Stars: 3rd: Mancari - 2nd: Schofield - 1st: Porter.
Kevin Oklobzija @kevinoDandC - If a player could rejoice over a sprained MCL, #Amerks D-man Drew Schiestel just might be. No MRI yet but he said doctor believes ACL is OK.
Kevin Oklobzija @kevinoDandC - #Amerks Drew Schiestel: "I was convinced laying on the ice that's what happened. Unfortunately It did not feel good at all. "Unfortunately I have the experience of knowing what it feels like."
Kevin Oklobzija @kevinoDandC - Schiestel well aware sprained MCL is far better than torn ACL. "It's the difference of 4 to 6 weeks and my season being done," he said.
