Such as? Based on this list I don't see anyone remotely comparable to Hodgson. Are there others?

Those are just the waiver eligible players. Teams have been sending down 20+ players each today.

Nino Niederreiter, Brett Connolly, Ryan Johansen, Holtby are a couple off the top of my head. Phoenix is rumored to be sending Larsson down. Maybe not carbon copies, but I think most teams are sending down most everyone on entry level deals.

My guess is that there is a gentleman's agreement that there will be no waiver claims made during this period. Thus, I believe there is no risk at all posed by placing a player on waivers to allow them to play in the AHL.

Specifically regarding Hodgson - I think he should be playing in the AHL.

If he's not - I'm guessing it's because the Sabres are not deep at all at center and they don't want to risk injury. I understand, but don't buy into that reasoning.

BuffaloSabres The Buffalo #Sabres have loaned 22 players to Rochester (AHL) including Hodgson, Foligno, Adam, Tropp & McNabb.

Kevin O wrong about Hodgson, but probably wishes he was right so he didn't have to think of something new to ***** about.
I'm sure he'll find something though.

As someone who attends a lot of Amerks games, I love the chance to get more looks at Foligno and McNabb and see Hodgson hopefully tear it up against lesser competition. As a Sabres fan, however, this lockout pisses me off to no end. The influx of talent will certainly push some guys who would have been playing for Rochester on opening day off to the sides. It takes a lot of pressure off Girgensons to step in and contribute immediately, though, and I wonder with Hodgson, Porter, etc. if they start Zem's at wing.

Good for Rochester. Should be cool seeing Hodgson down there.

Kevin O wasn't wrong on Hodgson at all. He tweeted this afternoon that there was an 80% chance that he would get sent down:

@jasonn27 @matthewwgr IF Hosgson isn't assigned it is because #Sabres deem him an NHLer. But I'm thinking it's 80/20 is assigned to #Amerks.

The only other thing he said on Hodgson was during the online chat with Steve Bartlett where he relayed that Regier told him he was hesitant to send Hodgson down because he spent all of last year in the NHL.

Anyway, good on the Sabres for sending him down, it was the right decision.

Or they could play him at the correct position in the correct league.

Amerks center depth is now Hodgson-Porter-Varone-Sundher-Tarnasky-Schofield, plus there's Adam.
Hopefully Girgensons is a victim of the numbers game.

Just going off what you said two days ago.

I stopped reading his garbage long ago, thankfully.

I only posted what he said, which was him relaying what Regier told him. I have no idea where you're going with this, but whatever. Couldn't care less.

Amerks looked stacked. will definitely be making a trip or 2 to watch them live. Would especially like to go for the Adirondack game to see Couturier and Schenn live as well

Eh, everyone is getting a boost. It'll be interesting to see how some of these guys do together (Hodgson with Tropp in particular).

There could be some upside in a lockout the way there was lat time for Buffalo. A bunch of young players getting an extra year together at a lower level to come more together as a group, hone their skills, and so on. Too bad I don't live in Rochester any more, because I'd love to see all of Hodgson, Foligno, McNabb, Tropp, Pysyk, etc. together.

It's a horrible deal though, especially when you consider the poor quality in terms of picture and production.

Is that the only way to watch? Not sure if I want to spend the money to watch, since I'm a broke university student.

Some games were on Time Warner Sports last year if you get that channel. Wonder if they'll show more games this year because of the NHL lockout. Wouldn't shock me to see someone stream the TW games online this year but there's no guarantee on that.

Notables headed for the AHL

Edmonton: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Jordan Eberle, Magnus Paajarvi, Justin Schultz. Taylor Hall was ineligible because he finished the season on IR.

Carolina: Jeff Skinner

NJ: Adam Henrique

Winnipeg: Alexander Burmistrov

Sometimes the games would be on local TV in Rochester. Unless someone starts streaming those, then that'll probably be it, yeah. Or who knows? Maybe some of the bigger networks will pick up some AHL games to fill those time slots? (I have no idea if that's really possible/how TV contracts work though.)

I live in Canada, so they won't show Rochester games, if they show any AHL at all.

I bet Ted Black makes every effort to get all Rochester games televised in Buffalo. I know there are some games, but I didn't think all games played in the Buffalo market. It would be cool to watch all the Amerks games.
