Your 2nd Line Center to the Islanders

Islanders could use a 2nd line center, to drop Nielsen to the 3rd line and hopefully make a playoff push. Strome or Cizikas may likely be the ones to fill the role, but I'm curious to see what other teams can offer.

What would you give for Pavelski?

How about something like Pavelski, Clowe, 2nd

For Grabner, Bailey, Nino?

Could also include Murray instead if you guys are still interested in him.

Pretty sure I'll pull the trigger on that deal. Hate giving up Nino while his value is so low, but getting Pavelski and Clowe back would be worth it IMO.

If the Jackets get a center as part of the Nash deal, what would you give for Brassard?

Good partners really. We are looking to get faster in our top-6, shed some salary, and get more forward depth. You guys need centers and physical players, something we have a lot of.

Sharks would end up something like:

Grabner - Thornton - ?
Marleau - Couture - Havlat
Bailey - ? - Wingels
Galiardi - Desjardins - Burish

If you guys take Murray instead of the 2nd, we shed about $5.5m in cap space too.

Connolly would be a decent fit at a reasonably cost. Not necessarily a #2 center though. ButI think he would have a good year with a change of scenery.

Hell no, Pavelski is 2 years away from becoming UFA and Clowe is 1 year away. Snow isn't the greatest GM, but he sure ain't stupid.

And we don't need some 2nd round picks.

Horrible.

Matt Stajan for a 3rd round pick. You love it.

Right, we'll trade you all our young talented players for all your young talented players. Oh wait, that's not how that works...

We would be trading proven veteran talent for youth, that's how it works. If Pavelski was signed for 3-4 more years we wouldn't even consider this trade, he's easily the best player in the deal.

Grabner is the only guy in that bunch that has proven anything. Bailey, while talented, could very well turn out much like Comeau at this point and Nino's issues are well discussed. Sharks are taking a pretty big risk too.

Also, all three of those guys are very classy players who you would have a fairly decent chance of re-signing. All are also friends with Nabby. I don't think it's horrible.

2nd line center would cost Hamonic or a package of good prospects starting with Nino ++.

Plenty of offers already in the thread that don't involve giving up a player as untouchable as Hamonic... don't be daft.

Guys like Pavelski, Filppula, Plekanec, Gagner, etc would fill the role admirably and nobody's asking for Hamonic in return for any of these players.

I take it that the Isles plan on returning Strome to juniors.
Maybe in would be in their best interest to trade a player on an expiring contract just to fill the void for a year. I can't see then trading any major assets at this time. It may not be ideal, but they should look into acquiring Tim Connolly as long as the Leafs are willing to trade him for relatively cheap...

Presumably the NYI want a cheap 1 year stopgap and these are likely options 2/3C players that could fill in for 2C.
Connolly
Lombardi
Handzus
Letestu

Handzus and Connolly makes sense and fit the cheap struggling player that Snow has traded for in the past.

Two year options are Gomez and Stajan.

Ooh you want Handzus? Can we send along a draft pick please? Seriously, I'm not kidding. I'd feel bad for you otherwise.

No need to trade that much young talent away though, as when NYI is contending, they will be retiring/past their prime.

MH+4th for Cond. 7th? If he scores 100 points, Sharks get the 7th.

I think you misunderstood. Handzus is god awful. He, not exaggerating, actually did more harm than good when he was on the ice last year. His advanced stats are some of the worst I have ever seen. The only thing he did well was take face-offs and win shootouts.

You really want nothing to do with Handzus. I'm looking out for you here

OP was looking for an NHL 2C not an ECHL 2C.
