[#3] Voting -- HFStars 2012 Top-20 Prospects -- [#4] Discussion

Last year's first rounder Oleksiak takes the runner-up position by a surprisingly large margin.

3. Chiasson
4. Dillon - almost went with Faksa or Nemeth, but will stick with Dillon. Doesn't have the highest potential among Dallas prospects, but I think he's very likely to reach his full potential. I know some people hate using NHL readiness in these rating, but I Dillon is going to graduate to Dallas this season. He will be having an impact while guys like Faksa are still two or three years away.

Think I'm going to go ahead and sticky the current one of these. Gets a little confusing when they're all grouped around each other and out of order.

Good call.

Still going Chiasson, followed by Faska.

Ok Chiasson sorry for passing you on the last two. Now it's your turn

Chiasson will probalby run away with this one.

Number 4 for me is Radek Faksa. I think he turns into a defensively responsible 60ish points center.

Should be Faksa. He's stonger in every area (Except NHL readiness) than Chiasson, and he's a centre.

Is Faksa stronger than Chiasson on faceoffs? Not sure he's as physical either.

Faksa won't lay someone out every other shift but he's very physical.

Chiassons a winger so I don't see why faceoffs matters, he won't be taking them.

Still sticking with Chiasson, then Faksa next. I feel he's got the highest upside out of everyone left, and could be in the NHL for the 2013/14 season.

Why not? Ott took the 2nd most on the team last year as a winger.

Not voting (respectfully abstaining), but I hope Guptill at least gets added to the list soon.

Not that I've ever seen him play but he put up some really surprising stats, guess he's the forgotten Stars breakout prospect this year.

Ott had a history of playing centre, I can't find anything about Chiasson playing centre.

I would have Guptill in the 6-10 range, definitely.

Id say Ritchie should be next followed by Guptill but I wouldn't be bothered either way.

Nah, too soon.

I haven't forgotten about Guptill, but I still don't think some of you are appreciating how stacked this pool is... it's very hard to fit him in before 15 IMO.

well you have 12 so far. Id put Ritchie above Guptill but perhaps not anyone else. So I guess he is probably 14th on my list.

Even last year around the mid teens we were voting for guys who werent exactly exciting. This year some of those guys have improved and despite several players making the graduates list I think most of us will feel fairly good about all 20 on the list. Or at least I dont see any that stand out as "that guy has no chance to be an impact player" types. Hell we might even have beyond 20 guys worth noting this year.

Right now I have Molin and A. Smith rated over Guptill, which bumps him down to 16.

That's definitely right about exciting players extending all the way through this list. I have (reasonably) high hopes for my #20 guy... how often can you say that?

I'd have Guptill before R. Smith. Go look and compare their respective freshman year college numbers and see just how good Guptill was last year. Combined their first year in college Chiasson and Reilly had 39 points. Guptill had 33 on his own. They scored 15 goals. He scored 16 and was unarguably CCHA Fresman of the year. Guptill is dynamic and in two years he's going to be the guy everyone on this list is talking about. There's also no way A. Smith should be that high.

Chiasson
Dillon
Nemeth
Guptill
Faska
Eakin
Fraser
Stransky
Ritchie
Glennie
R. Smith
E. Molin
J. Klingberg
L. Bystrom
D. Shore
T. Vance
J. Jokipakka
C. Sceviour
A. Smith
M. Winther
