It looks like Gaunce will end up 6th which leaves Connauton, Corrado, Rodin, Cannata, McNally and Labate to fight it out for the next 6 spots. That's a pretty decent top 12 there and it doesn't even include guys like Sauve, Mallet, Sweatt, Friesen and Polasek.

This is where our prospect pool starts coming really enigmatic. Lots of talent, lots of room for prospects to fail.

Developing them right is really important. Give them lots of time to incubate.

Went with Gaunce - I agree that he appears, at this point, to be a bit of a steal for us last draft. But I really like Connauton, Cannata, and from the little I've seen of him, Corrado.

The reports of Cannata have been nothing but glowing. IIRC his coach compared him to Schneider, and I believe he made the first-team allstar team for his league. I know we seem to be ridiculously deep in net, but I think Cannata has a really high upside.

I suspect Mallet is going to climb next year big time.

I know we all tout our pospects optomistically but this year in theory we could have:

Jensen Schroeder Gaunce Lack Kassian Connauton and Sauve all play.

Rodin was a 2nd round pick and fell off a cliff after his shoulder injury/adjustment to NA. I guess that's just the pool getting deeper? I had high hopes for him smh.. I remember everyone wanted Tatar at that pick. I wanted Mcnabb too. Gillis and the scouts misses in the 2nd round of 08/09 are looking bad. Players picked in those positions should have been contributing by now. Sauve could've been Schultz -.-

Mallet: a French-Canadian kid who has good size, hits, fights, skates well, and plays both ends of the rink. Think our coach might like him?

He's also an overager as well, so he should compete for a roster spot on the Wolves this right?

If I could vote I'd have taken Connauton here. I really like the Guance pick and literally did a fist pump when we grabbed him during the draft but I just feel if we didn't have Ballard or didn't sign Garrison we probably would have seen KConn grab the #7 role.

No way Connauton should be ranked ahead of Corrado. (future beef)

Gaunce, although he should have been a few spots higher. I think his ceiling is around 2nd line C, not 3rd line C. His frame is well suited for the dead puck era we are witnessing.

If it were up to me, the top 6 would have looked like this:

Kassian
Jensen
Gaunce
Lack
Schroeder
Tanev

Are you sure you want to rank Gaunce so high... I just saw this on his twitter:

3 Jul Brendan Gaunce ‏@BrendanGaunce16
Great week in Vancouver. Already didn't like traveling, add on a two hour flight delay and running up a mountain in the morning...#perrrfect

Does this sound like... sarcasm? I don't know guys, he didn't seem happy to be chosen by Vancouver at the draft... now this.

Gaunce for me, but yeah, #7 is going to be a hotly contested one. IMO the next 3 will all begin with C's in their surnames.

Yeah, a future 5/6 defender with limited offensive upside should definitely be our number 1 prospect.

Gaunce.

Well actuallly i combine the two but its clear alot are only voting on upside. I mean if their chances aren't that great of them making the nhl, they shouldn't be that high. This is why i voted for Friesen this round. Though you could easily make the argument for Gaunce this round, but i'd definitely be voting for Friesen next round.. mainly because he's got all the tools to play in the nhl while most others dont that are remaining, however i see about 5-7 guys still going to be chosen before friesen

I'm not saying he's our #6 prospect, but keep an eye out for Wes Myron. I saw him play a few games for the Victoria Grizzlies last year, and before he got hurt he was threatening to lead the BCHL in points (42pts in 26gms). I covered the Grizz as part of my gig at CKMO, and for a few months, he was all over the stat sheet. he's also tall enough at 6'2", fast, and a crafty playmaker. In a few years, this kid could be very real (if his shoulder heals up, which it will since he's 19).

I wouldn't be sure all of those would be higher than Sauve. Sauve might actually steal a top 10 spot just 'cause there are Moose/Wolves fan that will vote for him over McNally/Labate.

Gaunce, easy pick. My next two piick is a hard one. I really like F. Corrado's overall game than K.Connauton's offensive game. I cant decide.. i'll most likely will go with K.con
