JVR-Grabo-Frattin ( JVR goes to the wing and Frattin gets a nice look at 2nd due to speed and his play to the net)
Kulemin-Bozak-Kadri ( another talented line to mess with opponents line match-ups, they prove to be a hand full for teams and impress)
Connolley-McClemment-Brown/Komarov ( otherwise known as the shutdown line and pk's)

Steckel is in the PB
Gunnerson-Phaneuf
Holzer-Gardiner
Franson/Liles-Sbisa (trade Mac and Lombo plus to Ana for Sbisa)
Komi eats popcorn another year watching from the PB

Reimer ( comes back in solid form and again the optimus prime we love)
Scivens solid as a back-up

Feel free to rip me a new one lol
good combos here.

Unless JVR's defensive game improves in leaps and bounds, we have no shutdown line.

Lupul - Grabovski - Kessel | scoring line
JVR - Connolly - Kadri | 2nd scoring line
Kulemin - Bozak - Frattin | 2-way sheltered scoring line
Komarov - McClement - Brown | energy/shutdown line
Orr | fighter
Steckel | FO specialist

If we don't acquire an upgrade at C, Grabo slides in as he is the best overall C we have. Better offensively and defensively than Bozak. If Connolly can stay healthy and play up to his capabilities than that second line intrigues me. Not sure how their defensive play would be though. The third line is like the Kuli - Bozak - Kessel line from a few seasons ago that worked very well. This time, the sniper is Frattin. He'll be a lot more physical and most likely brings better defense. Could be very solid. Fourth line is in your face. Lots of speed and physical play. Will get under the opponents skin with relentless forecheck.

The top 6 seems too soft. More trades are going to be made though.

Lupul - Lombardi - Kessel
Reimsdyk - Grabovski - Kadri
Kulemin - Bozak/colbrone - Frattin
McClement - Steckel - Brown
Extras: Orr, connoly

Gunnarsson - Phaneuf
Liles - Franson
Gardiner - Komisarek
Holzer

Halak( trade for Mac, Scrivens and 2nd round)
Reimer

I do believe Lombardi gonna have a good 60-65 PTs season. He played after a big injury and no training last season. I will like to give him a chance.

JVR - Grabovski - Lupul ->top line all capable of 60+points

Kulemin - Kadri - kessel -> Sheltered scoring line. Kadri impresses at camp

Frattin - McClement - Connolly -> Shutdown line. All excellent defensively and can chip in offensively

Kamarov/ - Steckel - Orr -> Hard forecheck. Orr is there to beat on lucic/niel
Brown

Gunnarson - Phaneuf -> Shutdown pair. Good for puck transition as well.
Gardiner - Franson -> Young offensive pairing. tons of potential offensively and not bad defensively
Liles - Komiserek -> Liles returns to pre cuncussion status and komi rebound in RC system

Riemer -> Returns to form
Scrivens -> gets a taste of NHL and impresses.

My guess

Lupul JVR kessel
Clowe grabovski kadri/ frattin
Kulemin mcclement bozak
Orr steckel brown
Komarov

Gunnarsson Phaneuf
Liles komisarek
Gardiner franson
Holzer

Riemer
Ellis
I think or I hope JVR does well at centre and pushes bozak to a more comfortable role. 1st to lines are scoring lines followed by a checking and energy line. Frattin could start the year hurt so I say kadri takes the spot to start, but injuries keep them both in the lineup the hole year. Orr comes back and is a regular while komarov is the extra forward.
Komi comes back and plays ok for Carlyle while gardiner and franson have the easy matchups.
Reimer is the number 1 while Ellis is a ok backup.
Mac is flipped with a pick for clowe and Lombardi is traded to phx before pre season and connolly goes to the nyi, both for 4th round picks

I'm pretty optimistic as you can tell

I don't understand why so many people in this thread have Steckel either on the wing or in the press box. McClement is not replacing Steckel; he's meant to be a third line center. You don't move your best faceoff guy (by far) to the wing, and the press box is even less likely. Randy Carlyle used Steckel a lot last year.

Interesting choices, I have a few problems with it personally though.

Matt Frattin is highly overrated in terms of his defensive awareness. He works on a third line, and will improve, but he's far from excellent. I wouldn't even classify him as average yet.

The odds of Kessel/Lupul being split are very slim, and even more slim is Kessel not being considered a first liner.

No chance Orr should get a roster spot over Brown. Brown is actually a useful player. He's not the fighter Orr is, but he can actually play, and is a good shotblocking forward.

Phaneuf and Gunnarsson is such a bad shutdown pair. Do we have a vomitting smiley?
