The Lansing 3 are not "struggling" to go 6 innings. They are all on very strict pitch counts. The organization is being extremely careful with these pitchers. Perhaps a bit too careful, if you ask me. There are those, Greg Zaun being one, who believe that pitch counts are what is ruining so many young arms. Pitchers are babied so much nowadays their arms aren't developing properly, hence the injuries.
They are allowed to go 6 innings and they are struggling to get at times. Yes, there is a pitch count and I'd think it's a good enough pitch count where you can get to 6 innings. They have pitched a few times in the 6th but they have struggled to get that and struggled when they pitch there. Not that it should be surprising, they need to build innings and it will take some time before they really hit their strides.
Don't mind them being too careful. They are really young arms and for first couple of pro ball seasons, I don't mind them babying a little bit. I am sure they will let them loose once they reach AA.
Blue Jays don't DFA Andrew Carpenter. Jason Frasor placed on DL instead with forearm tightness.

We just aren't allowed to have nice things anymore.
Somebody sacrifice a chicken will ya!
Edit: And oh ya, Chavez left last night's start for LV after just 1/3 of an inning with an injury. No idea on severity, just going by what it said on gameday.

The way things are going, I don't think a Chicken is enough. Might need to cull an emu farm or something. This is just nuts.

Ugh, just so ridiculous how these arms are going down.
Not sure how badly he injured but I think it was on a comebacker on a "sharp groundball".
This is way too many major league arms for it to be just bad luck. Someone is not doing their job properly whether it be the trainers, the pitching coach or the policy of "babying the arms". I'm no mathematician but the odds of that happening to this many pitchers by accident in the care of one coaching staff must be staggering. Teams have injury problems but the are generally across the board; not just one position. (yes I know about Bautista and Lawrie, but they are relatively recent)
Tim McCarver just won the Ford C. Frick award for excellence in baseball journalism. Words fail to express how little sense this makes.
He was presented with the award today. He won it months ago. And the Frick award is for a broadcaster who P has made major contributions to baseball. Perhaps you were mixing it up with the J.G. Taylor Spink award which is for meritorious contributions to baseball writing and was awarded this year to Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun.
is anyone else excited about jake marisnick. I believe he could challange for a roster spot by 2014 and could also be one of the september callups next season.
this kid has all the makeup to be a star
he hits for average, developing power and should get it as he matures and grows. Good speed and has good skills on defense

The point was that Tim McCarver is such a terrible broadcaster that he should not, under any circumstances, be winning awards for it. And especially not an award that means he's now in the company of Dave Van Horne, Dave Niehaus, Harry Kalas, Harry Carey, and Bob Uecker.
Are there any news on who the PTBNL might be? If its just some random scrub then I dont mind this trade considering Carlos Perez would have been lost thru the rule 5 draft if the jays dont put him in the 40 man roster for next season.

Tom Cheek should have posthumously won it. I don't think there is a more memorable call in a ball game than "touch 'em all joe..."

It was rumoured on mlbtr that it could be a prospect that hasn't been under contract for a year. They mentioned players we wouldn't be pleased to have added the this trade but I doubt that's what AA has given up.

Some scrub or cash. I wouldn't worry about it much.
A question for the advanced stat specialists: is there a way of measuring whether JP Arencibia's defense has improved this season? I noticed that he's throwing out base stealers at a pretty good rate relative to the rest of the league, and offensively he's near the top in some of the traditional categories. Thanks in advance.
