Apparently the Cubs are on the verge of also trading Garza to the dodgers for a package of prospects centered around Zach Lee. Its insane the kind of players moving for good pitching. That would be like us moving Sanchez + for Garza, No thanks.
Piece on Vernon Wells and his struggles. Yeah, he's got his millions, but too bad he's struggling. Always was a good guy.
You can't blame him for the contract he got. You can't feel too bad for a guy making 21 million a year for 2 more years to potentially play AAA baseball. But you can respect the hit his pride must take pretty much everyday and appreciate the constant professionalism he carries himself with regardless of the negativity he's surrounded with. Hopefully, for Wells the Angels can find a way to move him and he can play again. He does as they say have power in his bat and when their talking about how Alfonso Soriano may be moved now because of the lack of power bats on the market there may still be a chance for Wells yet. The Angels will be eating a ton of that salary but I'm sure they'd gladly do it to give him another chance. I'll add a good on him for all his charitable donations.
I don't recall that trade, what were the details??
Well, I tried to move superstar SP Tanyon Sturtze and then not being paid $26M per year Vernon Wells for Maddux, Jason Marquis and the hilariously named Jung Bong
(and yes, ASB '04 is a video game and I probably should have made that clearer).
So that Hill for Johnson trade is looking prettty brutal right about now.
Oh, and there are A LOT of good SPs available in FA this year.
I'd like us to get at least 1 of:
Hamels
Grienke Harden
Jackson Liriano
How is it looking brutal? Sure, Hill is doing great but what makes people think he would have done the same here? He showed 1.5 years of absolutely terribleness but a change in scenery helped him. I am totally fine we traded him. Good to see that he has found success again though.
Those two shouldn't be there. Anibal Sanchez and Marcum should be there. McCarthy intrigues me. He's been great this year and was great last year but he's got a lot of healthy issues... could be a guy you could get on a short-term deal.
Who knows if this happens but Peavy and maybe even Ervin Santana could become FA. Peavy has a 22M option and I'd think that gets declined... Peavy could still re-sign with the White Sox though. Santana has a 13M option and while it sounds a bit crazy that Angels wouldn't pick up the option but his ERA is at 6 and their payroll is pretty high. He is interesting because he's been durable throughout his career, he's been good and bad, so a bit inconsistent at times but he's got good stuff and he is just 29 years old right now.

That's probably closer to Syndergaard or Nicolino. Also Dodgers are just nuts.

The Marlins are extremely disappointed by their team's performance and are prepared to make a series of trades, Ken Rosenthal and Morosi report (on Twitter). Josh Johnson, Randy Choate and Carlos Lee are among the team's possible trade chips.
Great trade for Detroit if they can get Sanchez re-signed. I'm not all that high on Turner and the rest of that package is whatever. They fill their 2nd base need too so I like the trade for the Tigers.
Tigers just made sure that will win not 1, not 2, not 3, but infinity WS titles. They just stole from Miami. So did the Yankees. This has offically become a sellers market this year, possibly the worst case scenario for AA and the Jays to help our pitching because of all the young talent we have brewing in the minors that would help the team for the future. Win-now or win forever, which do you do?
What is going on today in the MLB with all these trades? This is 100000000x more exciting and interesting than Rick Nash.
weak attempt to replace gardiner, they should of went for victorino IMO as he couldn't of cost that much more. i guess they wanted a definite corner position fielder instead of one that would take over for granderson.
however i'm glad ichiro will get a chance to win his first WS, hes been a beast for to long to not have a chance with a good team. also ichiro had a NTC for 5-10 teams i believe so he could of blocked the trade.
