There will always be semin haters, very few semin haters that actually watch him play.

I hate Semin, and I watched him play 82 times a year(LOLjk, cause Semin usually played around 60 games a year).

Waste of talent.

I actually want him to go to Detroit because I think he may do well there, but knowing Semin, it won't matter.

Your user name also celebrates Ulf Dahlen, so it's pretty obvious about your personal biases towards the type of player you like.

It's funny to me how much hate Semin is getting, especially because you can tell how unpopular he is just from the thread count he has going on. This Semin discussion is on thread three and Nash has like 10. And Nash is probably not going to go anywhere considering Howson has his head up his ass.

Meanwhile Semin is almost a lock to sign SOMEWHERE, yet the discussion on him is limited.

Hard working players that deserve their roster spot and that are actually useful in the playoffs? Yup.

Alex Semin has a higher career playoff PPG than Dahlen by a pretty sizable margin. In fact, he already has as many career playoff goals as Dahlen.

It is becoming rather obvious that the divergence between the opinion of the fan bases, at least as reflected here at HF, and the GM's who do the actual choosing of whom to offer contracts to, is about as wide a chasm as I have ever seen regarding any player when it comes to Semin.

I see a large percentage of a lot of fan bases excited by the idea of adding him. But unless his demands are beyond ridiculous, like expecting a Parise type deal, then obviously the GMs are not nearly as excited by the prospect as many of us are.

Semin scoring in the 1st round is great. After that he is beyond useless.

Never said that nobody shows up, just said that the last thing the Canucks need is ANOTHER player who doesn't show up...why don't you ask Kesler (who always shows up) if he would like to have Semin as a linemate...

By the way, winning the "close but no cigar award" should not be enough. Especially for a hockey market team like Vancouver.

Semin has a torn brain at times with his offensive zone hooking penalties so it's pretty fair IMO.

Considering the sampling size of him playing past the 1st round is very limited though.

If Kesler gets a pass for a torn labrum, Semin gets a pass for having a broken hand in 2009 against Pittsburgh.

Or that Semin has a very specific list of teams he's seriously considering, and that any other GMs actually excited about him don't matter to Semin.

given the day's developments, and the possibility of philly getting weber, does NJ take a serious offer to semin now?

NYI even?

It would be a big risk, but I'd give him a 4x4 contract. He wouldn't accept it, but that's about all I would spend on him.

Perron/Semin Backes Oshie
McDonald Berglund Stewart
Perron/Semin Steen Tarasenko
Sobotka Nichol Langenbrunner

SICK depth.

I don't want Semin anywhere near the Canucks, we've had a hard time cleaning our name already.
