Skinner / J Staal / Tlusty
Jussi / Welsh / Ruutu
Nodl / Brent / LaRose
Stewart / Dwyer

That is a tough top 9 with a defensive responsible 4th.
Don't know what your definition of "tough" is, but I don't think adding Semin and AKost helps.

I have said it before in prior posts putting Semin on the first line is a mistake. He will not produce there. He is a second line winger with both PP and PK roles.

It is based on watching him for the last 7 years.

You are a Caps fan, when did he ever produce on the top line?

I think what you have seen from him in his career is what you get. Put him on the top line and you will only be disappointed. He needs to be out of the spotlight so to speak.

Let's go Shero!
I just hope he doesn't lose out on Semin waiting for Doan. I'd give Semin 2 years 5-6M a year right now, w/o hesitation. But it's clear that Shero has a boner for Doan.

No clue what your basing this on. Whatever line OV is on is considered the top line, so are you saying he hasn't been productive with OV? Because that's not true.

Someone should look up his stats in games where OV is out of the lineup because that would give a good indication of Semins top line abilities.

Huh. Semin's wikipedia page says he accepted a 3 year $17 million deal with New Jersey today. Probably just some random vandalism, but there it is.

He has not played with OV much at all (except on the PP).

Ovechkin has missed a couple dozen games in his career so that would prove nothing.

He has been productive on the PP.

He needs to be a second line scoring threat to fit properly, IMO.

which is why he would slot in nicely in Pittsburgh behind Kunitz-Malkin-Neal

yes he did produce on the first line, they even had a SOB line quite often. the problem is ovechkin and semin would try to pass to eachother to much and it pretty destroyed our depth.

Someone must have offered him a big one yr contract or a decent 3 yr or both by now so I find this odd. If you're in his position, you'd wanna sign sooner rather than later so you can figure out where you'll be, buy a house or whatever, meet the team physios or training staff if needed etc.

Or maybe it's just typical Semin being lazy/not-caring and leaving it to the last minute

If the problem really is that no GM is willing to offer a decent contract then I find that quite sad.

Instead, selfish Semin decided to do a master-class for kids in Krasnoyarsk. What a bum

O.K. it is a long shot, but so is Doan. And Semin doesn't seem to want to sign.

The Canes had Chad LaRose and Jiri Tlusty on their top line last season. Semin has to be able to produce better than those guys.

Really though it doesn't matter. IF Semin were ever to be signed by the Canes, I'm sure Muller will figure out how to best use Staal, Staal, Skinner, Ruutu, Semin, Jokinen.
