It's funny with the amount of threads that Parise and Doan will get, but the amount the clearly better player gets is so minuscule to them.

Probably because Semin isn't better than either of them.

O.K. it is a long shot, but so is Doan. And Semin doesn't seem to want to sign.

I do not care what anyone says Semin >> Doan. It's not close in my mind.

I'm a little surprised he hasn't signed with an nhl team yet.

Maybe gms have been waiting for the Nash trade and Doan signing ?

I think semin would be a nice boost to cbj if he was willing to work his ass off.

But he definitely doesnt fit the jackets new mentality and game style so i dont see it happening any way shape or form.

Big question.

Why doesn't new York sign him? Let him play rw until gaborik comes back and when he does let him play with krieder and stepan?

NY has more then enough cap space. And any team could use more goalscoring.

Semin may outscore Doan in the regular season, but i'd take Doan 100% in a playoff run.

Then again, Semin might help you get out of the first round again. I hear that's been a problem lately.
After that though he will go into Semin idlemode.
You would take the guy with a PPG of .509 in the playoffs over a guy with a PPG of .667 in the playoffs for a playoff run? Interesting.

Stats aren't everything. He's a physical guy who wares out other teams.

Semin got about 20 points in 2 playoff games, and was useless in about 40 other games, so yes.

Why would we want him? Our top six is already set with Richards, Gaborik, Nash, Stepan, Kreider, and Callahan plus Hagelin pushed down to the third line. He's reportedly looking for $7m per year, he doesn't seem like someone who'd fit a Tortorella team, and our RFAs next year include Stepan, McDonagh, Hagelin, and Sauer. It's hard to find any way in which he would make sense for us.

Some fun facts:
- Semin has significantly lesser percentage of zero point PO games than Doan (49% vs 67%)
- even if we discard Doan's early PO appearances and count POs from 2000 onward Semin is more consistent (49% vs 53%)
- up until now Doan has never played in other round of PO than 1st
- Doan has 7 pts in 10 games in those 2nd and 3rd rounds. Semin has 9pts in 18 games (he had 8 pts in 11 games though if we discard this years POs)

The whole Doan is better than Semin seems to me as a case of "what have you done lately". In my opinion even streaky Semin is slightly better than Doan (even if I count that physicality that Doan can bring). If he is motivated it's not even close (I'm well aware that finding a way to motivate him was quite a problem so far).

Doan also has twice as much penalty minutes.

We're here, bashing and defending Sasha, while he's enjoying his summer in Krasnoyarsk, skating with kids and relying on his NA agent to find him a reasonable contract

We DO NOT WANT A. Kostitsyn!
I'd rather get Huselius

And Heatley played a big part in getting Parise and Suter to come to Minnesota. He's not going anywhere.

Carolina has been vocal so has Pitt and Det.

NJ 100% quiet as you would expect from Lou, also Semin's agent won't comment on NJ when asked about them.

You do the math.

Not saying he ends up in NJ but they are certainly in the mix.

Why not Kostitsyn? He's the same player he was at the trade deadline, and most Pens fans wanted him then. He fits the Pens, he might not be consistent, but the potential is there. He's young, skilled and loves to hit. He can be Malkin's Kunitz and we can put Chris Kunitz back with Sid.

If someone would say to you that:

" Hey, bro. Did you hear about that thirdliner in Washington who has Giroux's hands, Ovechkin's wristshot, Stamkos' onetimer, has good speed, is good defensively and probably posesses best natural skillset in the league."

And he is average, people cant understand how someone with his skill can be so average. Grinders think that " If i had his skill i could be best player in the league, why didnt hockey gods give me his skill but instead him."

So the conclusion is that he doesnt try, is heartless.

I absolutely love this post.

Itís like when Tyler Clary ripped Michael Phelps for his work ethic.

People, get over it. No matter how hard you work at something, there is very likely someone out there who can do it effortlessly.

I'm guessing that, whoever ends up with him, isn't going to be "buying low".
