@Russostrib: #mnwild get a conditional 2014 seventh from the Washington #capitals for Chay Genoway

So much for stiffing the AHL affiliate.

Was just coming here to post this. This most likely mean Oleksy is staying in Washington

Since Genoway is more of a PP guy he seems like a Kundratek replacement and a guy that can take over Orlov's current role once he's called up.

He's under contract next year as well so it's a bit of a commitment for a stopgap.

Wonder if they gave Minnesota the option of Schultz or a conditional 7th rounder in 2014.

I wouldn't expect Orlov anytime soon. Hasn't looked good in the two games since being back. Conditioning isn't there and made some really bad turnovers and looked lost out there. Even guys who sat around me who I have never seen before made the comment that "Orlov really sucks and is struggling"

Yeah, not surprising. Oates hasn't exactly spoke glowingly of him and from what I saw during the lockout he wasn't all that good then either for the most part.

@ScottStuccio: #Caps acquire F Nicolas Deschamps from Toronto in exchange for D Kevin Marshall. Deschamps will report to @TheHersheyBears. #hbh

Don't worry, we still got stiffed. Kevin Marshall traded to Toronto. He is a gritty D and paired well with Oleksy. Sorry to see him go.

That said, I understand that he may have had locker room issues and did not get along with Coach French.

And Oleksy probably isn't going back to Hershey.

Do you really think Yingst isn't highly involved in all of these deals? He's likely the driving force behind them.

They need more offense and these two moves should help, particularly Genoway.

I do know Yingst is behind these trades. As I said, Marshall was trouble in the locker room. I like the guy but can understand why he was traded.

Just wasn't sure how to respond to a mod trolling the thread.

Yes, trolling the thread on the Caps board. Right. That's me alright.

It was tongue-in-cheek. Sorry if I've ruffled your feathers.

While I am sad to see Marshall traded (favorite Bear and really nice guy) these moves upgrade the offense which was much needed. It's ironic that these trades happened the day after Lurch says the Caps don't care about the Bears

Not all that certain about "upgrading". Deschamps has 7 goals & 16 points in 50 games. Not exactly lighting it up, and this would put him 7th in Bears scoring (with the 3 next highest point producers having played significantly less games). Genoway is a little better offensively, but a team that is outsized every night & has lost their toughest blueliner just dealt a 6', 200 pounder and is replacing him with a 5'9", 175 pounder.

As to him being bad in the room, I can't buy it. This guy absolutely "brought it" night in and night out. If anyone had a problem with him, it might have been because they were embarrassed at being so badly outworked.

I'll reserve judgement for now, because the Wellman deal worked out nicely, but ......

2 games back from how long of a stint not playing? That absolute dumbass blind drop pass by Taffe on the powerplay had minimal to do with Orlov. It would have been nice if he stayed on his feet, but he sold out pretty good on trying to keep the puck in.

Yeah, that point in time when every single Dman looked bad and had no clue what was going on.

I'm game for trying out someone who can keep Stafford up in the stands every night.

I never once singled out the Taffe blind pass because I agree that was on Taffe. I am a big Orlov supporter and a Stafford hater but I can't lie Stafford played a lot better game then Orlov. Yes Orlov had some bad turnovers and dogged it on the PP and that was due to conditioning from not playing for a long period of time. It will be interesting to see how he does this weekend. Hopefully he shook off the jitters.

For those who care, former Bear Steve Pinizzotto made his NHL debut tonight for the Canucks and had an eventful first NHL shift. Huge hit followed by a fight. Glad to see him in the NHL as he is one of my all time favorite Bears.

Trust me, you guys will love your 175 pounder you just got...plays hard every night, can log 30+ minutes, and can play pp and pk. If he was 3 inches taller, would be in the NHL...leader at every level he played at, check out his UND NCAA credentials

Believe I remember Genoway from the days following UND because of Finley.

The Bears fell out of playoff position last night as Manchester and Albany both won. Pair of games vs. lower echelon teams this weekend. They could wake up Monday morning in 7th, or in 13th. It'll be interesting to see how the new guys fit in.

Hershey signed Capitals draft pick Chandler Stephenson and Ottowa 67's 6'3'' Defensemen Michal Cajkovsky to ATO today and both were at practice
