the people who slag Edmonton the most are people who feel the need to continually be stimulated...like Magnus said, it can get very cold here in winter and there isn't as much to do here as a bigger city like Chicago for example, but he did mention the outstanding hockey atmosphere here, and it's year round! a good portion of players don't need to always be out on the town in the bars like a lot of fans apparently need to be, they are quite busy during the hockey season with the games, training, travelling on the road and down time at home in between...good stuff from a pretty grounded player!!
Once this kid learns to toughen up a bit, and drive to the net, he will be an exceptional player. Imagine the speed the Oilers will have Yak - Hall - MPS .... Sutton ... insane.
Max Pacioretty started putting his game together as a big, fast, goal-scoring winger two seasons ago. PRV, btw, is two years younger than Pacioretty. And up to this point their development has been similar: early promise in the NHL, followed by AHL demotion due to lack of scoring, etc.
I think Paajarvi can continue to development along a similar trajectory. This kid is obviously smart enough to figure out what happened to his game and correct it.
I forgot to mention that he also told me he has been focusing on a lot of mental training this summer aswell. This season he learned how important that is and that's something he's been working on a lot now.
He also said that the best line he's been playing with so far in the NHL is when he played with Omark and Gagner during the second half of last season. He felt like he and Gagner matched up great together so it may very well be a great idea to play those two together with maybe Yakupov or Hall on the other side.

Yep, it's not always Glitz and Glamor for guys. It was interesting to hear Weber decided against the Rangers because he really didn't want to live in Manhatten.

Well, what he said was more like "Linus and I always managed to create space for one another and Gagner completed the line very well. It went very well for all three of us and we did play a little bit more of a Swedish kind of game with a lot of puck possession. Also you naturally create chemistry palying together for such a long period of time".
I don't mean to be a **** here at all but in the end I think that the essence of that quote was a bit off mark as he was refering to him and Omark creating space and all three playing a Swedish game (i.e. obviously influenced by himself and Omark).
Thanks for the article though! Great reading and he always show himself to be a great guy. I really hope he bounces back this year and manages to establish himself on the Oilers roster.
PS. Above I just tried to give the quote it's right context. This does not mean I want Omark back on a line with Gagner and PRV...

Covering your bases, eh LaGu!
Just kidding. You're one of the Sdedish posters who actually puts allot of what is said in Swedish into context, which is appreciated. I've tried google language conversion and it's pretty laughable at times.
For example, the first paragraph of the article that Winter88 wrote:

Ever since he broke into the Timrå a-law at age 16 has Pääjärvis career pointed straight up, at least until the season that
As a Canadian, I am happy that PRV is a "Striker of the bad weather". Maybe he calls upon the Swedish gods when he needs to!
I'm also happy that he is "Sunny and warm". I would not want the poor guy to be Cloudy and cold.....much like Omark is.
You guys were giving up on him way too easily last year. I know it's easy to, but he's going to be an awesome player.
I think the farthest that anyone typically goes is doubting Paajarvi's top-6 potential. Just about everyone sees a long NHL future for the guy. It's just a question of how much offense he'll have on top of good defense and blazing speed.
Nothing would make me happier than if Paajarvi would come into camp and win a spot in the top 6. He has the big body we need and if he'd use his size more effectively, he could be a huge bonus to us as a big, two-way guy who can chip in offensively.
I'm still expecting Hartikainen to start the year with the team and Paajarvi to start in Oklahoma though.
1/2 of this board turned on the guy last year and were ready to toss him into every 2nd trade or outright assign him to the minors for all of next year.

No, many people of this board recognized his failures last year and suggested that he should play meaningful, top 6 minutes in the AHL. Why are you overplaying this?
Hall - RNH - Eberle
MPS - Gagner - Yakupov
Smyth - Horcoff - Hemsky
Eager - Belanger - Jones
would like. Still though, it's one of the softer line ups in the entire NHL, especially if Eager doesn't bounce back and actually play his role.
Ideally though, that would be a good to great top 6 for now if all players could live up to expectations... still want to see Hartikainen infused to the line up some way somehow. I know there's not much if any space but he's pretty close to being NHL ready and is a bigger body who likes to crash and bang, is definitely not soft. Plus he's shown to have so me good offensive instincts.
I've never given up hope on MPS.. had a tough sophmore season but many players do as well. His attitude, speed, size, and skill is just too hard to give up on so early. Have a feeling he'll have a nice bounce back season next year.

Haha, I think you forgot one thing. I was the one who did the interview and wrote the article.
Since I'm writing for a swedish site I focused on what Magnus said about his play together with Omark. Off the record he praised Gagner a lot though and he felt like that was a player he had a pretty good chemistry with. I just didn't write that part in the article since it's impossible to write down everything a player says during an hour long interview. He said a lot of things that's not part of the article, I only chose to include the things he said that was the most interesting for people to read about.
