Shane Doan visited Philadelphia on Saturday, July 21

John Gambadoro ‏@Gambo620

After visiting with the Rangers brass in NY today Coyotes Captain Shane Doan will make his 2nd visit of free agency Saturday in Philadelphia

(Sorry if this was already discussed, didn't see a thread on it)

Adding Doan and Weber would be such an awesome boost, both skillwise and leadershipwise.

He's going through the process the way you're supposed to. Don't think we're the ones who offered that insane contract, pretty sure that was the Islanders. That said, still wouldn't go 4 years on a 35+ unless they're killing that rule.

Can't wait to see the Flyer hate on these boards when Doan and Weber are Flyers this time next week. I love it

Not sure why he would even bother with the Rangers. He's a religeous family guy - hardly the kind of dude to sit around with Lundqvist at some Manhattan cafe sipping sparkling water in a pair of black skinny jeans.

Well he doesn't have to invite him over for dinner lol. Don't think everyone here in Philly is a saint either (especially us fans) if he's basing his choice on his religious morals he should just stay in Phoenix where it a lot calmer than the east coast. Lol. Or retire.

Hey! I happen to love my skinny jeans. Most comfortable pants I have even worn, and that includes sweats and tack pants.

I would love to see the Penguin fans faces, if Paul get's Doan and Weber.

Damn... cannot imagine that, at 5'11 and about 175 i look pretty damn thin! I do like skinny jeans... but playing waterpolo and rugby for 10 years+ means they are pretty hard to get over my calves!

do we have an idea if paul is planning to offer doan anything or will he wait until weber deal is finalized.

Also if next week comes and both are signed.

would paul then possibly gamble and make a trade for ryan

Making a trade for Ryan probably can't happen unless we wiff on Weber. If we get Weber, there's simply not enough futures left for Ryan that we should be comfortable moving.

As for Doan, if we do end up trading Voracek and Mez as sweeteners for Nashville, he makes tremendous sense as an option for the next few years.

well i was thinking and i hate doing that.

Plus not sure about how much cap space we would have.

but if hypotheckly ok we get weber. and doan.

To make a offer for ryan and i doubt ANA would accept.

but could you offer say

Vorachuck, phantom prospects Any of our other D's. any of our 2nd's n 3rd rd picks a combo or a ton of stuff going to ANA.

maybe zolnerchuck or other very good players on our farm system.

i really don't want to deplete the phantoms. but if we could some how work something out where we have

weber, doan, ryan that would be really something.

Hartnell (4.20) - Giroux (3.75) - Doan (3.75)
Simmonds (1.75) - Schenn (0.90) - Briere (6.50)
Voracek (4.10) - Couturier (0.93) - Read (0.90)
Wellwood (0.58) - Talbot (1.75) - Fedotenko (1.75)
Rinaldo (0.54)

Weber (7.86) - Coburn (4.50)
Timonen (6.33) - Schenn (3.60)
Meszaros (4.00) - Grossmann (3.50)
Lilja (0.74)

Bryzgalov (5.67)
Leighton (0.90)

TOTAL: 68.50

It's doable with a bonus cushion and no reduced 12-13 cap.

Can we afford Doan, Weber, AND Voracek? I suspect not. As much as I love Doan, I'd pass on him out of those 3 if I was forced to. Unless Homer has a magic destination to ship Meszaros off to...then sign me back up.
