On the other hand, Shero pretty much never gets stuck with hugely overpaid contracts that he has to find a sucker to take off his hands or has to game the system to bury. The only ones close are Martin, and I happen to believe he will have a huge bounce back year this year and . . .what? Fleury? Some of the haters have brought him up, I do not close to see it.

We are a team that spends to the cap and will again. If we signed Semin somewhat reasonably I would see us still as the favorites. The other teams improved more, but they had further to go to catch up in my opinion.

In addition Columbus adds hahahahaha.....

Aaron Portzline‏@Aportzline

TSN has Dubinsky, Anisimov, Erixon and 1st to #CBJ. Told #CBJ are sending a 3rd-round pick and a minor-league defenseman to the Rangers.

How so?

They lost Jagr, Carle, JVR

They added Schenn....Weber isn't a Flyer yet so how have they gotten vastly better?

We could not have offered that deal. We just don't have the forward depth. It would be like offering Sutter, another good depth forward that we don't even have, a good D prospect and a 1st.

This is true but we also don't overpay. To spend to the cap at this point we would need to overpay for Semin. Shero won't get desperate so if we are in on Semin, I see this dragging out in a waiting game. Semin knows he's the only game in town.

Richards, Carter, Avery, Dubinksy, Prust, Jagr, Pronger (I guess?) all gone from the Atlantic. Running out of players to hate on.

Shero's sense of urgency just isn't there.

It sucks to see so much inaction while your rivals continue to add marquee players.

holy ****.

ESPN reported the trade and had "Aterm Anisimov" as one of the pieces to CBJ for Nash, who shared the "Rocket Richard" (pronounced like Mike Richards) trophy previously.

Come on ESPN.

Where is this pissed off Shero? Teams not improved, rather they are worse now. Now we have to play Nash many times, perhaps Weber too. Get aggressive mr Shero.

We 100% could have put together a package that was as good as that. If howson was stuck on it being exactly 2 fwds 1 prospect dman and a 1st then hes even dumber than he looks for making this trade.

When Nash gets less than 70 points (as he has over the last 3 seasons) and less than 40 goals (ditto) and the Rags are stuck with that cap hit, this deal won't look so great for them.

This is true. We have the "value" but not the forward depth.

Well we trade a D for a forward and use that player for a trade for Nash. I love Shero and i'm a big fan but at that point it's up to him to be creative

Great trade for the Rangers, Nash and Richards should have a good year together. Should be an interesting year

How about we change that when to if. Also, unless we see the cap go down, this is manageable cap hit going forward.

We could have offered a better deal, if we so chose. But I didn't want Nash with that contract anyway.

Anyone who thinks we don't have the assets to land a legit scoring winger needs to take a long, hard look at this trade for the most coveted scoring wing on the trade block.

1st round pick? Check.
Tweener 2nd/3rd line forwards? Check.
High-end PMD prospect? Sextuple check.

It's all a matter of finding the right fit.

As a Pens fan I am concerned about Weber landing in Philly. Nash to the Rangers doesn't concern me in the slightest, especially with Gaborik on the shelf half the season.
