Grab a bottle of Happy Pills and don't worry so much. Why in God's name would NSH trade one of the top 2 G in the league (who is signed) for Brzgalov (who would be lucky to make Top 12 right now and even in the best of times not be Top 3, and who also signed -- to a very expensive deal)?

Philly isn't getting rid of that contract anytime soon.

I don't mean straight up, but part of a package for Rinne.

It really is a shame that Shero & Crosby couldn't convince Parise to sign in Pittsburgh for no other reason than this. Could you imagine what Philadelphia would be willing to give up to get Weber in a true Flyer knee-jerk reaction to Parise or even Suter signing here? What might have been??

Better go after Phil Kessel. He is basically the same player and he would cost less both in terms of assets and money.

Kane is VERY overrated. Nice player, but not THAT nice. Soft as butter, poor defensively and not that consistent. I'd take him on our team for sure, he is very talented, but I wouldn't be willing to sacrifice what we'd have to to make the Hawks bite.

Do you really think that Nashville will be trading with Philly again any time soon? I am guessing that well is poisoned for a long time to come.

And for Kessel? He would cost more than Kane would.

The asking price probably would be higher since Burke paid a premium for him, but realistically, his market value is way under Kane's and they are basically the same player. I don't like neither and I wouldn't give a lot to acquire any of them in a trade. I'd prefer to sign Semin. At least, he can PK and he is as talented as those two.

Fleury's wife is beautiful and not in the fake/tons of makeup/gold digging kind of way that most athletes' wives are. I think she might even be more beautiful than Letang. Might.

I'm not Kane fan either. Kessel has more character than Kane and probably will give the same output.

Dany Sabourin hates weddings because the garter always gets by him high on the glove side.

I asked this on the main board and did not get an answer.

Assume a lokout.

Pay is suspended during the lockout I would assume. What about bonuses? ie, next July when the next $13 million is due, does Nshville have to pay then or when the lockout ends?

I am assuming at least the salary is suspended. How much actual salary is he due as part of that offer in the first couple of years? At the very least Nashville would save this if there is a lockout, no?

Interesting thought in this quote. David Poile has been here before. And regretted not matching before. It may color what he does this time:

In 1990, (David Poile) was Washington's GM when the St. Louis Blues gave an offer sheet to defenseman Scott Stevens who was as important to the Capitals as Weber is to Nashville.

Poile chose not to match, and accepted the compensation of five first round picks. Those picks became Trevor Halverson, Sergei Gonchar, Brendan Witt, Nolan Baumgartner and Miika Elomo. Poile has said in interviews through the years that he regretted his decision to let Stevens leave.

wonder how he felt about the Blues loosing Stevens as compensation for offer-sheeting Shanahan.

It's really not all that much savings since it's 1.0 salary and 12.0 in bonuses.

Holmgren is a piece of work.

A smart piece of work, in this instance. You have to give him credit.

Yes I know he's a bully and all that, but business-wise...he did pretty well.

Meh, he makes a lot of news each offseason, but it never really seems to pay off in the end. And half the time the moves bite him in the ass and he, or at least Flyer fans, want to get rid of their failing shiney new overpaid toy a year after they got it. How is that goalie working out for Philly? I give him credit for making a lot of noise, winning the press wars in the offseason, and pissing everyone else off. But in the end the Flyers are going on their fourth decade without a cup.

It's a double edged sword, though. I'll give him credit for being a guy who makes a move when he wants to, but is it always a good decision? There were a few times w/ Philly where I shake my head because sometimes you just have to build a foundation over time. You can't buy a foundation. Between the Rangers and the Flyers, I truly believe they could have at least won 1 more Cup each if they just built a team instead of trying to buy them. Philly especially. Look at teams who drafted solid core players and how they worked during Cup runs. Being good but not great is nothing I'd want to strive for and I'm hoping to not come off as a dick, but the 75 streak continues to grow w/ that strategy.

Same goes for this current team. I think it's time they just build the foundation with their young players. If they don't get Weber and blow it up to get a guy like Nash, I won't be afraid to say I told ya so. And I know we are rivals, but a part of me just screams w/ frustration for you guys when they refuse to just build a team. It makes zero sense to me.
